What is a good recipe for using whisky?!
Answers: I bought a bottle of 15 year old Glenfindel Whiskey and I don't like it. Perhaps someone could point me to a recipe that isnt too complicated that uses whiskey in it? It would be preferably a recipe utilizing a crock pot.
here's a few to try:
Crockpot Whiskey Sausage
5 pounds sausage -- sliced-2" pieces
2 cups brown sugar -- firmly packed
2 cups ketchup
4 ounces whiskey
Mix sugar, ketchup and whiskey.
In a crock pot, layer with sausage, sauce, sausage, sauce etc.
Cook 6 - 8 hours on low. (depending on the age of your crockpot)

Whiskey Dogs
1 pound hot dogs
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup ketchup
1 cup whiskey
Cut hot dogs into "coins".
In a bowl, mix together brown sugar, ketchup and whiskey.
Pour sauce into crock pot.
Add dogs to the sauce and stir.
Cook on low until hot dogs "plump up".
Serve with toothpicks. OR....serve over rice or taters!

Crockpot Roast Beef
5 pounds chuck roast
2 cans french onion soup
16 ounces beer
2 ounces whiskey
2 beef bouillon cubes
Braise roast in 400F oven for one hour.
Add all ingredients together with roast in crock pot.
Stir a bit and simmer 4-5 hours.
Roast can be cut up in chunks to fit in crockpot.
After simmering total time it will be very tender and broken in pieces.
May be served on buns or with potatoes and vegetables.

Mustard-Whiskey Pulled Pork Sandwiches
Ingredients:
Dry Rub:
1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
1/3 cup salt
1/3 cup black pepper
1/8 cup dried smoked paprika
1/8 cup dried ancho chili powder
2 Tablespoons dried minced onions
1 Tablespoons garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon celery salt
3-4 pound - pork shoulder roast, trimmed
1/2 cup honey mustard
1/2 cup whole grain dijon mustard
1/2 cup whiskey
6 hoagie buns
6 slices provolone cheese
12 pickle slices, dill or bread-and-butter, depending on personal tastes
Barbecue sauce of choice
Method:
Combine all of the dry rub ingredients in a small bowl.
Set aside.
Combine the honey mustard and the whole grain Dijon mustard.
Set aside.
Generously rub the dry rub all over the pork shoulder roast.
Then slather the mustard mixture on top of the dry rub all over the pork.
Place the pork shoulder roast in the crock pot.
Pour the whiskey into the crock pot.
Cook the pork shoulder on low heat setting about 8 hours or until very tender.
Remove the pork and juices from the crock pot and place into a large bowl.
Using two large forks, shred the pork.
To make the sandwiches, place a generous portion of the pulled pork on the bottom half of bun.
Top with 2 pickle slices, cheese, and some barbecue sauce.
Add top half of bun.
Notes: This meat is very versatile and is also delicious served as a burrito filling or in tortilla soup in place of shredded chicken.
Number of servings: 6

Simple Meal using Meat Leftovers
- 2 to 2.25 lbs of meat leftovers, cooked. Any kind of meat, seasoned in any way, any combinations of meat is fine, from chicken to turkey to pot roast to steaks.
- 2 sticks celery, chopped
- 2 carrots, chopped
- 2 medium/large onions, diced
- 1 head of garlic, peeled
- 1 can condensed cream of mushroom soup, mixed with equivalent amount of either beer or dry white wine
- 1 cup fresh herbs, any combination, chopped (sage/thyme/basil usually works good for me, but do what you want)
- 1 large or 2 small tomatoes, diced
- 1 can condensed beef or chicken broth, mixed with 1 oz each whiskey or rye, rum or spiced rum, coffee or espresso, water
Evenly devide each ingredient, except the 2 soups, into 4 piles.
Layer 4x in your crock pot in this order: onion, celery, carrot, tomato, garlic, herbs, meat.
Divide your 2 soups each in half.
Layer half of the mushroom soup over layers 1 and 3 of solid food, pour the 2 halves of broth over 2 and 4 of solid food. (This will all mix within itself as the crock pot cooks.)
Set into your cooker, and cook on LOW for about 8 hours.

Below is a recipe for a lemon cake with Irish whiskey that looks good. Try searching on "Irish whiskey recipes" or "Scotch whiskey recipes" and you'll have a lot to choose from. That's probably a good bottle of whiskey. I'm guessing you actually meant Glenlivet. I'm sorry you don't like it. My brother drinks it on the rocks, but that's too strong for me. I like mine with soda and a lemon wedge. That's probably why the cake recipe appealed to me!
Scottish Beef in Whisky Sauce
1 1/2 lbs sirloin steaks, preferably aberdeen angus
1/2 ounce butter
1 large onion, chopped
3 tablespoons Scotch whisky (or whisky liqueur such as Drambuie)
5 tablespoons double cream (heavy whipping cream)
salt and pepper
Cut the beef up into thin strips.
Melt the butter in a medium frying pan.
Add the beef strips and onion and cook for 5-10 minutes, until the beef is brown and cooked to taste.
Stir in the liqueur and cream.
Heat gently to reduce liquid slightly.
Serve at once with vegetables.
