Boy, you said it, Girl Friend! All frozen foods, even "healthy" are high in sodium b/c it is a preservative to prevent ROT. How appetizing.

FRESH IS BETTER!

BREAKFAST:
Fruit (apples, oranges & bananas), 2 soft boil eggs (with lemon pepper… AWESOME), or oatmeal with low fat milk, cinnamon & raisins, and/or yogurt. Fruit juice, orange or cranberry is good. Avoid (or at least minimize) carbs like breads, muffins, bagels, cakes and cookies.

For an occasional good carb make “apple pancakes” or “carrot & raisin pancakes” use a wheat base batter pancake mix and fold in grated apple and cinnamon, or grated carrots and raisins… top with REAL maple syrup (a little expensive BUT worth it… you will never go back to fake maple syrup ever again… the taste is out of this world).

LUNCH:
Make this your biggest meal of the day… A big salad (vegetables like lettuce, carrots, bean sprouts, tomatoes, cucumbers, celery are consider “free foods”, so you can eat your fill). Throw in some berries or chopped apple to make it interesting (without tomatoes), and use different vinegars, rice vinegar, apple cider vinegar, balsamic vinegar, red wine vinegar. Or, a “wrap” with thin wheat tortilla filled with shredded carrots, alfalfa sprouts and sautéed chicken, or tuna (an occasional avocado)… sprinkle with olive oil and vinegar… no mayonnaise… and no potato chips… instead have a side dish of grapes or orange slices.

DINNER:
Drink lots of water before dinner to cut down your appetite… spinach pasta with a marinara sauce or just olive oil, garlic powder and parmesan cheese… or a 6 ounce piece of broiled or baked salmon or white de-boned and skinless chicken breast, just salt and pepper. An easy way to prepare a meal is to put the chicken (or fish) inside a foil wrap along with some onions and vegetables, say carrots and broccoli, seasoning, 3 tablespoons of water… then fold it close and set it in a pie tin that is filled w/ water below the rim… put it in the oven at 375 degrees, and in about 30 to 40 minutes you have a wonderful cooked dinner.

Also, make a stew in a crock pot… try throwing some vegetables, carrots, squash, bell peppers, new potatoes (w/ skin), shallots, fresh herbs like basil, a dash of oregano, 4 garlic cloves (w/ chicken or beef stock [broth] or bullion and water, plus some seasoning) in a slow cook crock pot in the morning before going to school, and when you get home your dinner will be waiting for you, enveloping your whole house with a succulent aroma that will make your parents green with envy as they gnaw on their boring frozen dinners.

Have fun… be inventive… and enjoy the process.

Some frozen meals like "Zone" or SmartOnes (from Weight Watchers) and Lean Cusines are great for dieting- they are low in calories and taste good for a frozen meals
Breakfast: Special K with berries, Toast, Banana
Lunch: Lean Cusine Panini, Soup, Smart One dessert- chocolate brownie!!
Dinner : South Beach Diet meals- great pasta, and rice dishes

Salad are great - and can be interesting too. I like a big green salad with lettuce, red onion, tomato, cucumber and artichokes. Mix through some steamed/grilled chicken or fish and you have a great meal.

My other favourite is thai style noodle salad - for 1
1 packet vermicelli rice noodles
1/2 lebanese cucumber
1/2 apple (green or red - doesnt matter)
1/4 red onion.
juice of half a lime
1/2 teaspoon dried chilli's (less if you dont want it hot)
1/4 teaspoon fish sauce
2 teaspoons soy sauce
1/2 teaspoon ginger
1 handful Chopped herbs ( I use mint or coriander or a combination of the two)

Can be served vegetarian or with steamed/grilled chicken breast, steak or a can of tuna.

Put the vermicelli in boiling water to soak.
Slice the apple and cucumber into similar sized or shapes (I can never decidee it I like them cut like matchsticks or cubed)
Slice the red oinion slightly smaller than the others.

Mix the soy suace, fish sauce, chilli, lime and ginger and pour over the cucumber, apple and oinion mix. leave this to stand while you prepare your meat if you are having it.

Drain the vermicelli - if it isnt quite soft wack it in the microwave for a minute.

Combine noodles and cucumber/apple mixture, chop up herbs roughly and mix through salad.

Serve meat on the top if you like.

tastes awesome and is very healthy.

HEALTHY/EASY TURKEY PICANTE TACOS

1 lb lean ground turkey
16 oz. Pace Picante sauce (medium or hot)
Monterey Jack cheese
flour tortillas
spinach or iceberg lettuce

Brown 1 pound ground turkey. Drain grease; add Picante sauce - about 12 oz.
Simmer 8 to 10 minutes. Shred lettuce. Sprinkle with grated cheese. Serves 5 to 7 people.

Enjoy!

Try to eat as natural as possible. Eat avocados, bananas, apples, oranges, bell peppers, zucchini, mushrooms and etc. Make your meals revolve around natural foods. Olive oil and spices go along way with veggies. Try to cut out red meat and eat more fish. I love tilipia and salmon and tuna. DRINK WATER. A lot of it. No sodas or anything crazy like that. Be strict with yourself!

It's all about lifestyle changes. I have effortlessly lost 20 pounds in a year just by making some changes. Now that I have straightened out my metabolism I can eat pretty much how I want (as long as I live by my choices) and be able to treat myself with chocolate or whatever without gaining.
