boil 10 potatoes in chicken broth and water with salt and pepper until fork tender.
pour off the water then mash up the potatoes to your desired state of chunkiness. add milk, butter, sour cream, combine and enjoy.
For variation, here are some add-ins
bacon crumbles and cheddar cheese.
cream cheese and top with bread crumbs
ranch dressing

I peel and cut into cubes, boil until fork tender, drain, add butter, milk, salt, and pepper to taste and I beat with my electric mixer until smooth...perfect everytime....

peel and boil potatoes, when you can stick a fork through them there done, drain off the water, add a pinch of salt, a couple tablespoons butter/margarine to taste, and a little milk to make it creamy, Then use a beater to mix them.

Boil the potatoes till tender, then mash with a little milk, butter, salt and pepper.

Variations: add some garlic
add a spoonful of mayo (I know!) for extra-creamy potatoes
add sour cream
add cheese

Or, add a combination of these!

Peel, quarter, & boil the potatoes first.
Mash with some added milk & butter.
Quantities are to your own tastes.
A nice addition is to add some roasted garlic cloves.

Boil potatoes til done, drain water, mash with masher, add butter , mash, then add milk to desired consistency, add sourcream at end, will make creamier

All of the above are good ways to do easy mashed potatoes. But remember--you don't have to peel them. I never do and they're still great. You also don't have to mash them until they're completely smooth (lumps can be good). I use a stand mixer (like a kitchen aid) and just throw everything I plan to mix in on top of the potatoes and turn it on.

ok put the potatoes on a boil until you can easy stick a fork through one then put them in a bowl add milk an d mash them up add salt pepper if you like that :):):)

Okay figure a potato per person.I don`t know how many servings you need,so I can`t give exact measurements.Peel, and cube the potatoes.Add to cold water.Bring to a boil.Add salt and pepper.Boil for 15 minutes or until tender.Drain.Place back in pot with burner off.Leave on the burner for a few minutes to dry up any leftover water. Now,mash them well.Add some milk and butter. The quantity of milk will depend on how thick you like them. You can stop here and you will have wonderful mashed potatoes,or if you want to take it to the next level, you can add some sour cream and chives, shredded cheddar,or roasted garlic. You can also boil the potatoes in some chicken stock if you want,or add some at the end while you are adding the milk and butter.

I like red skinned potatoes. I just wash them off, boil with the skins on, when fork tender, drain and mash with salt, pepper, butter, and milk ( or cream) You can also add some garlic salt or powder and sour cream.

Absolute basics are Idaho potatoes, milk, butter, salt, and pepper. I usually add a bit of sour cream to mine as well, gives them a great flavor.
