Is it better to steam your vegtables or boil them? Or another way to cook them with keeping the most nutrients!

Question: I'm cooking the vegtables and then grinding them to mush for my 8 mo. old...I was just wondering the way you cook them first. Any info would be great! Thank you.

steam them...but watch out if you buy frozen because some are high in sodium and preservatives....buy fresh veggies when possible...you can freeze it in ice trays once you grind them and then pour in labeled freezer bags and use it as needed .....enjoy your baby!

Cook them with only a small amount of water to create steam. That keeps the most nutrients. So either steam them or zap them in the microwave, then grind them.

Enjoy your little one!

Steaming keeps more nutrients.

use frozen vegetables then steam cook them. You don't need to add water there is enough free water in the frozen veggies .Get one of those new plastic steam cookers that allows the steam to escape slowly from the container and cooks the veggies perfect and allows all the nutrients to stay with the vegetable.

stir fry lightly in a wok. they don't lose any nutrients because they aren't actually cooked, just heated till their color becomes bright.

All the above. Boiling to a mush is not good since it essentially removes most of the nutritional value, plus veggies don't taste good that way.
