Turkey soup Burntttttttttttttttt?!
Answers: have made my usual post christmas turkey soup but got distracted today and the pieces of turkey sunk to the bottom of the pan and burnt, i have strained it off but the soup still has a slight burnt taste, can anyone one post a sensible solution please before the family arrive for lunch tomorrow
Most sites say if it tastes charred after pouring out of the burned pot that you can't fix it. One person suggested putting a piece of bread on top for awhile...one person suggested adding milk...you could try these ideas...it can't hurt at this point...but not sure if it will help either..
Google "how to fix burned soup" if you want to read some of the details...
Throw it out and start over. That sounds gross and it doesn't sound like there is any way to save the soup. Maybe you could add more water or broth or something. I don't know ...
Throw it out and start over. Or you can go to the store and buy a chicken and make chicken soup. This time, do not burn it. Keep your eyes on the pot.
Sorry, but ain't gonna get better, once its burnt its burnt.
If the soup you've salvaged has a distinct burnt flavor, you can try disguising it by adding another smoky-flavored ingredient, like bacon or ham; adding chunks of potatoes to absorb some of the burnt taste (remove the potatoes before serving); or by using small amounts of different seasonings to mask the flavor.
Try adding some curry powder to it. You'd have to melt some butter add the curry powder, cook it gently for a few mins then add to soup. Worth a try??
