1/2 cook your pinto beans- w/ water and salt
Add chopped smoke sausage, tomatoes, onions, cilantro, and a couple of cubes of chipolte flavour (knorr makes it, just like chicken or beef bullion) or add canned chipolte pepper, black pepper, and garlic powder. Finish cooking the beans.
I made this for new years- a twist on frijoles de rancho, and they were great!
Slice and saute with some onions. Serve with Pierogies (available at most supermarkets frozen if you don't want to make them).
*********SMOKED SAUSAGE JAMBALAYA
1/2 pkg. onion soup
1 c. rice
1 pkg. smoked sausage
1 onion
1 1/2 c. water
Salt and pepper to taste
Split and cut sausage into small pieces. Fry with onion until brown; add water, rice, and onion soup. Salt and pepper to taste. Cover and cook on low flame for 20 minutes. Stir occasionally. Shrimp can be substituted for sausage.
I put it into pasta salad. Dice the sausage add to cold pasta with cooked peas, sweetcorn, tinned asparagus, a little fresh dill and mayonnaise. Its lovely with a jacket potato
Red beans & rice....
mmmmm....
First brown the sausage, cut up an onion saute the onions after the onions turn clear, add some two cans of tomatoe sauce or rotel add two cups of water, simmer for 40 minutes, serve over rice.
Chop roughly in bite size pieces and add to spaghetti sauce. My family likes it added to a meat sauce.
make then bake some cheese and onion mash and blob it in a circle on the plate, sllice up the smoked sausage and put it all the way on the outside of the mash in a circle, leave a hole in the middle of the mash and place a cooked yorkshire pudding, make some gravy and pour it in the yorkshire,
so you end up with cheese and onion mash, served with smoked sauage and gravy filled yorkshire pudding ,simple really =)
AND TASTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT... x
Or make spaggetti bolognese and add smoked sausage in plump lumps so it acts a bit like meatballs..always nice =)
I had it for lunch today. We cut it up into bite sized pieces and browned it up in the skillet real good. Then in a separate skillet we sauteed a sweet onion until it was soft, then added scrambled egg and shredded cheddar cheese. Made some toast and then eat it all together. Very easy and most kids love scrambled eggs.
get some canned biscuits and try sausage with cheese in the middle. take the biscuits and flat them out and rap it around the sausage place in greased dish then place in oven until desired color my kids love them.
I think it's great you want to let your 6 year old help! To make it kid friendly, you could try cutting sausages into smaller chunks or slices, sautee, then pour BBQ sauce on top and let it heat through.
You could also try adding sliced sausage to spaghetti sauce and letting it heat through.
You might even try adding it to mac and cheese.
I tried this when I was short on time.
1 bag Obrien frozen hashbrowns
1 package smoked sausage (sliced into rings)
eggs
Fry the obriens and sausage in a little oil till done.
Fry eggs
Place the obrien mixture on plate and top with eggs
A quick snack
Ritz crackers
sliced smoked sausage
shredded cheese or spray cheese
Layer as listed and microwave till cheese is melted.
I also like it with thin sliced onion and a touch of mustard then the cheese.
