powdered sugar and milk, a lot of people say water, but milk gives it a nicer finished texture and it will harden up so the cookies won't all stick together.

Also if you make extra dough, an easy way to freeze it is to roll it into a tube and wrap in foil and freeze it, then when you want to make more cookies, you can thaw, or leave frozen and just slice and bake, just like store bought cookies! Thats my plan for today is to make a bunch of cookie dough and freeze it for later use, I work in a portrait studio and never had time to make cookies during xmas season and this is my first xmas being married too so Im missing being the wife that bakes!! lol, so now Im doing, only a little late.....oh well, theres always room for cookies right?

Good luck to you, hope your cookies are fabulous, make sure you send me some!

Very simple: for cookies or fairy cakes, just mix icing sugar with enough lemon juice to make a smooth paste. Add the juice little by little so you can make the icing as thick as you need (thicker of course for spreading with a knife, slightly thinner for piping or drizzling in patterns).
You can add a small drop of food colouring if you want to at this stage.

I have suggested lemon juice because you probably have that in the house already. But you can also use rose-water, orange-flower water, rum or Cognac instead: all work very well and taste lovely.

:-)

cream cheese and sugar

Buy a box of icing sugar (we have a brand called Tate Lyle in England- not sure what the French alternative is)

Mix a LOT of powder with a small amount of water, and add food colouring if desired.

Do you have access to powdered icing sugar?

Powdered sugar and water is all one needs. Put it in a warm pan and color as needed. Pipe it. Warm as needed. Use a bit of butter if necessary. For Chocolate brown, use chips. Pay attention to how the icing flows.

if no one is allergic to nuts use Nutella....

Go to a cooking store and buy meringue powder or look up a recipe for royal icing it uses powdered sugar, egg whites, and lemon juice.

I found some really good and easy cookies recipes under "Baked Good Recipes" from http://www.highclassrecipes.com.

Check it out.
