What you could do is make the usual tomato sauce with

tin of chopped toms
tomato puree
crushed garlic
herbs and seasoning
then add either;
a sweet chillie dressing
or chopped chillies (or both) depends on how hot you like it.

you could also add some infused chile oil afterwards for the extra kick.

Thanks for points.
I hope you enjoy it Report It

  • What a great idea! Was it sort of tomatoey as well?
Asda sell Chilli oil or I use 'lazy chilli' when cooking, kind of chopped chillis in a jar.
You could add either of those to a tomato sauce for pizzas?

    CHILI PIZZA

    1 lb. ground beef
    1 lg. diced onion (about 1 c.)
    2 med. crushed cloves garlic
    1/2 tsp. chili powder
2 (10 oz.) pkgs. refrigerated buttermilk biscuits
    3/4 c. mild taco sauce
1 c. grated Monterey Jack cheese (about 4 oz.)
1/4 c. pitted black olives, sliced

Heat oven to 400 degrees. In 10 inch skillet, cook ground beef, onion, garlic, and chili powder until beef is browned. Meanwhile, press biscuits into center of ungreased 12 inch pizza pan, pinching edges together to seal. Arrange remaining 12 biscuits around sides to make a thick high border, overlapping and pinching to seal. Bake 10 to 12 minutes until golden. Remove crust from oven; spread crust bottom with taco sauce. Spoon meat mixture over sauce; sprinkle with cheese and olives. Bake 8 minutes longer until cheese is melted.

if you make a regular tomato sauce for the pizza base, then just add chilli to it, either dried chilli or fresh.
I would imagine that the pizza place maybe just added chilli oil, because they tend to make a big batch of sauce for all the pizzas and not everyone likes chilli.
When I make pizza I like to add jalapinos (the ones that you buy in a jar)
here is my chilli sauce recipe,
1 jar of passatta or tin of chopped tomatoes
    1 onion finely chopped
2 cloves of garlic crushed(or any dried garlic from your cupboard)
    teaspoon italian seasoning
    salt n pepper to taste
a good pinch of chilli flakes or 1 fresh chilli seeds n all!
    method
fry the onions in a little olive oil and all the dried ingredints until soft.
add the tomatoes and a small pinch of sugar(this just takes the tart taste from the sauce)
bring to the boil, then simmer for 10 or 15 mins until it has reduced and thickened slightly,
you can also add a good dash of tom puree to enrich the flavour.
this is basic and you can play about with the ingredients to suit your taste
