Is it ok to defrost chicken breast in hot water in the sink?!

Question: Not super hot, warm is okay. But make sure you don't leave it any longer than you have to, and cook it well done to make sure you kill any bacteria that may have started while it was in the water.

well not in a hot water thats for sure, because you will just ruin it

use regular water instead, change the water every after half hour at least; this would do just fine

No, sorry I don't know why, but no. I always defrost my chicken in the microwave on the defrost setting.

Edit:
I think the first answerer is right. My mom defrosts a turkey that way.

I do that all the time coz' I allways forget to take it out of the freezer to thaw in time. Not hot water though, just warm water.

Best way to defrost a chicken is in the fridge, place plenty of newspapers/paper towels under the chicken to catch the moisture. Yes it will take a couple of days, but......
The other way, which isn't suppose to be safe nowadays, is defrosting in sink in COLD water. Heat will let bacteria grow. Drain the water every so often and refill with cold water again. Remember, wash your hands and utensils/sink thoroughly after each use.

Good Luck!

Not hot water but you can run cold water over it to defrost it.

Use cold or cool water babes

Cold water is what you should use. You want to keep it below 40 degrees until ready to cook it.

I DONT SEE WHY NOT I DO IT ALL THE TIME

PLEASE NO! Especially with a small child. You run the chance of holding the chicken in a temperature that will promote bacteria growth and could get you sick. The best way to thaw is in a refrigerator over time. If you don't have the time for that, you could put the chicken in a bowl large enough to cover with water, and continually run cool water into the bowl, letting it overflow. This is wasteful of water, and doesn't leave you with the best quality chicken to deal with, but sometimes when you're in a bind... The best way is to plan your meals ahead of time and thaw or purchase accordingly to allow time to be ready to cook as needed.

I think that defrosting the chicken in hot water it's going to cook it. I prefer the microwave or I let the chicken in the refrigerator the night before, in this way I can put it under the cool water.

Kate in your avatar you have your baby, now imagine you didnt have this little bundle of joy cos you cooked food incorrectly, not worth the pain is it. Even the act of defrosting you need to take care. Microwave on the "defrost setting" or the Lowest setting possible. thats if you want ti cooked today .For cooking the next day ,defrost via the fridge. cook 1 hr per kilo, then 15 mins per 500 grm from there. moderate hot oven.
