How do I fed a sourdough starter?!

Question: I know if I use 1 cup of starter, I add 1 cup of flour, 1 cup of water, and a dash of sugar. But how long does it need to sit out on my counter bubbling until I can put it back in the refridgerator?

www.io.com/~sjohn/sour.htm I know this sounds like a weird web address, but it does exist. It might help you.this is a websight for sourdough bread.I don`t know what you are using the starter for,but this is a very informative sight.hope I helped!

Starters shouldn't be refrigerated, it will retard the yeast from growing and reproducing. The best recipe I have from school is...

Day 1
Flour 10.5 oz
Water 13.25 oz
Honey .5 oz

Let sit out covered in a warm area.

Day 2- You take 7 oz of the initial mix and add to it...
Flour 7 oz
Water 8 oz

Day 3, 4, 5...7 oz of the mix from the previous day
Flour 7 oz
Water 8 oz

The feedings should be 12 hours apart and keep it Well Covered!

Keep in mind 8 oz are in a cup!
