Where are you from? When I visited Australia 15 years ago, they weren't into anything peanut butter. So Reese's Peanut Butter Cups were nasty to them. So if you make any peanut butter desserts, they are certainly very American. Especially peanut butter & chocolate.

Great American dessert: Apple pie (serve warm with vanilla ice cream and a little caramel sauce)...or plain is great too.

EDIT: If you're from India, there may be a few traditionally American cakes you may want to try.

Cheesecake, Carrot Cake (with cream cheese frosting) and Chocolate Cake are delicious.

Let me know if you want recipes, and I can add them for you.

banana splits, ice cream cake, shakes/malts, apple pie, there are so many desserts! go to a Bakers Square restaurant and take your pick form one of their fabulous pies!

You can't get any more American than hot apple pie (home made) topped with ice cream. Pumpkin pie is another choice. Or any fruit cobbler.

Definately cheesecake!

Pumpkin pie, apple pie, banana cream pie, peach cobbler

I'm a huge fan of brownies! If you go to www.tastefullysimple.com they have a truffle brownies that all you need to do is add egg and water. They are to die for!!! YUMMY!!!!

For other easy dessert recipes go to www.eaglebrand.com. Their fudge is very simple.

You said that you are "from" India. Not sure if that means that you currently live there or that is your original heritage (in Las Vegas, people say they are "from" Mexico, California, etc, but live here, so I'm a little confused). If you live in India, then you might not be able to get those products. www.bettycrocker.com should have simple homemade recipes for brownies.

Homemade brownies with french vanilla ice cream and hot fudge or caramel sauce (or both, as I am a fan of both!). Brownie sundaes are on almost everyone's menu, and they're super-easy to make, because brownies are really easy to make to start with. From-scratch are as easy as out of the box.

Pies of all kinds, but especially apple or cherry. Whenever possible, get one that has been baked from scratch as much as possible. Fresh homemade pie from scratch is one of the glories of Western and particularly American cooking. A good specimen is above and beyond anything manufactured in large quantities by corporations.

Cupcakes!! There are so many different varieties that you can make!! Just go to your closest grocery store, you can mix and match different cakes with different icings/frostings.

peach cobbler with a dollop of vanilla ice cream
