TARTER SAUCE
1/8 cup capers
1/8 cup chopped parsley
1/8 cup chopped cornichons or gherkins
1 1/2 cups mayonnaise
1/4 cup diced onions
1/8 cup lemon juice
1/8 teaspoon Dijon mustard
Dash of Tabasco or hot pepper sauce
Salt
Freshly ground black pepper
Place the capers, parsley, and cornichons in the container of a food processor and pulse until finely chopped. (Alternately, finely chop the ingredients by hand.) Place in a medium bowl and mix in the mayonnaise, onions, lemon juice, mustard, hot pepper sauce, salt, and pepper. Cover and refrigerate until ready to use.

nfd?

I do, but the secret creamy ingredient can not be disclosed

I use some dressing (like Miracle Whip), sweet relish, lemon juice, a little mustard. I don't measure but go easy on the mustard.

A simple one I use at home is just plain mayonaise and some chopped pickle relish (like you use on hot dogs) and add a dash of paprika. You can add/adjust/use whatever spices you like to it. I started plain for the kids.

Just mix some mayonnaise and dill pickle relish.

WOW! That first answer is so elaborate. Tartar sauce is just mayo, green hotdog relish and a squirt of yellow mustard.
...

I usually use equal parts mayo and relish. I've never tried fresh garlic, because I get the jar of minced garlic.. but I use just a touch of the juice from the garlic. My hubby actually gets seafood out, and uses my tartar on it <proud look>
Oh, wait... I suppose you could use a little garlic powder?
