Can I use this in my salsa?!

Question: I want to make salsa, I have all of the ingredients but it calls for a can of tomatoes, I have a can of rotel it is both tomatoes and green chilis, which the recipe calls for, but also asks for a can of tomatoes (or a fresh tomato but i do not have that either). The only type of can tomatoes I have is Basil & Garlic season tomatoes, would this work? Or just throw off the recipe?

I would use the basil and garlic seasoned tomatoes over the tomatoes with chiles, but it's whatever you prefer. Both would add excellent flavor to the salsa.

Or you can try this recipe!

Simple Salsa
28 ounces Rotel tomatoes & chilies
29 ounces diced tomatoes with basil oregano and garlic
1 chopped onion
1 chopped green pepper

Directions
Finely chop the onion and green pepper. Combine all ingredients in a blender. Blend on the slowest setting, just to mix them.

Enjoy!

It will work fine. The green chiles in the tomatoes will give the salsa even more flavor. Taste it as you add ingredients. East on the jalapeno peppers.

Either way it will work.

Why not, as chef Gusteau says in Ratatouille anyone can cook so why not make it your own.
