Why are my ricecrispie squares dry?!
Answers: I made some risecrispie squares because i was going to have a lot of small children over. When i finished and they hardened I tasted one but it tasted fine. The next day when i gave one to my little brother he said it was really dry. He was right. Does anyone know why?
Simply not enough butter!! Rice crispy treets do need to be kept in an air tight container but will stay soft for days if butter is used in the correct porpotions. This is not a place to use "lite margrine" as it is as much as 1/2 water and does not supply the necessary fats to keep the treats soft as the water evaporates.. They're always better the day you make them. If you need to keep them longer, make sure they're tightly covered and don't try to keep them more than 2 days.
they are best on the day they are made. you could keep then for a day or two if you keep them in an air tight container, no need for refrigeration. the air makes them dry
keep them covered tightly, I even put mine in the freezer becuz they thaw very quickly and helps to keep them fresh.
It also may be because you didn't put enough butter/margarine in them when you were cooking them.
ah well, I bet they were still yummy:)
