Whats the easiest way to open a coconut?!

Question: I poke a nail throught the three little dark spots on the end, then drain out the coconut milk.

That way when I smash it with a hammer or between two rocks, it doesn't get me all coconut-milky

sledge hammer- but it's messy.

With the back of a chef's knife

I place between my legs and squeeze real hard!

Smash it on the ground (outside!!!) or use a metal pot spoon to crack it open

Hand it to a monkey!

Buy one that already has a line marked on the center (kind of made with a router..indention) and take it outside and hit it with a hammer on the line.

have a BIG eleghant jump on it.
easiest way

I heated mine in the oven a few minutes last time until pretty warm (did not hurt the meat) and it opened instantly with one slight whack. Somebody had told me to do it that way and I was VERY impressed.

with a hammer and a nail

Drain the coconut milk, then take the back of a heavy chef's knife and firmly tap the coconut around the circumfrence.
Then give it one hard blow, and it should crack in two.

If not, put it in a gallon size storage bag and take a hammer to it.
