I have to make homemade pizza for a project. I'll buy some Pillsbury crust but where should I go from there?!

Question: Should I buy pizza sauce too, or make my own? I'd like to make my own but I think it's hard..

I guess if you make it at home, it qualifies as home made. Buy pizza sauce and spread it on the crust. Sprinkle liberally with mozarella cheese. Add whatever toppings you like, i.e. mushrooms, peppers, pepperoni, bacon bits, onions, olives, etc.. Bake at 425 for 12-15 min. Good luck.

Maybe I am wrong but if something is homemade that means you make everything. If you use a already made crust that makes your project null&void.

pizza sauce, pizza cheese&whatever topings you want on it.

Use regular jarred pasta sauce- just the regular kind, not the chunky kind.

Using a spoon, spread a thin layer of sauce, then a layer of shredded mozzarella cheese, then the toppings of your choice and bake in a 400 degree oven for 10 minutes.

Toppings:
pepperoni, sliced onions, cooked and crumbled or sliced sausage, sliced mushrooms, sliced black olives, chopped green peppers, cooked crumbled ground beef, canadian bacon, regular cooked bacon pieces, fresh sliced tomatoes, bananna peppers, etc, etc etc....

sauce is very easy to make:
2 tablespoons of olive oil
saute some garlic
add 1 can crushed tomatoes
add 1 can of water
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon sugar
simmer for about 1 hour stirring often

Ever been to Bertucci's? You can get pizza dough there. Then just spread a little tomatoe sauce over it and cut slices of moz. to layer on top. Doesn't take super long to cook either.

There are some wonderful pizza sauces that are out there. I like Contadina the best. So, roll out the crust, add the sauce, top with mozzarella cheese, and all the great topping that you like :-)
I always put some flour or cornmeal down on my pizza pan before I roll out my dough so it doesn't stick.. I highly recommend that you do that.
Good luck to you.

It's really easy to make your own crust - only takes 30 minutes to rise. And for the pizza sauce, just take a small can of tomato paste and spread that on your pizza crust. If you want lots of flavoring in it, then put it in a pan, add just a little water and lots of Italian Seasonings (that comes in a jar). Then layer whatever you want. We always like cooked crumbled sausage, pepperoni, Canadian Bacon, Pineapple cubes - well drained, tomato slices, onion rings, zucchini and mushroom slices. Top with Mozzarella cheese - shredded.

And, here's what I found works best. Place the crust in the oven with nothing on it and bake for 5 minutes to make the surface firm. Then add your sauce and all your goodies and it will hold up better and be perfect.

Here's the pizza crust recipe:

PIZZA DOUGH

1 pkg yeast
1 1/4 c warm water
3 1/2 - 4 c flour
1/2 tsp salt

Sprinkle yeast on the warm water. Add 2 cups flour and salt. Beat well. Knead and add slowly the rest of the flour until the dough is elastic and doesn't stick to your fingers. Don't do too much flour, just to the point where it doesn't stick to your fingers. Butter a bowl and place the dough in the bowl, turning it over once to coat with the butter. Cover and let it rise for 30 minutes. This makes enough for 2 pizzas. So divide it in half and spread it out on your pizza pan. Place in a preheated 450o oven for 5 minutes, remove from the oven, and load on all your goodies. Then put back in the oven and bake for 20-25 minutes.

I made these for a whole group of young boys. I put the dough in throw-away pie tins and did the 5 minutes and then had the boys put on whatever fillings they wanted on their pizza so each had their own "creation". None of them needed a second pizza since the pie tin held so many goodies. And these were teenagers!!

It's not hard at all to make a pizza.

This ones's really easy!

INGREDIENTS:
1 clove garlic, mashed and minced
1 teaspoon salt
1 can (6 ounces) tomato paste
1 can (8 ounces) tomato sauce
1/2 teaspoon sugar
1/8 teaspoon pepper
1/2 teaspoon oregano
1 tablespoon olive oil
dash red pepper, optional
PREPARATION:
Combine all ingredients. Makes about 1 1/2 cups, enough for 2 pizzas.

Just get a regular pizza pan. They have the ones with the air holes in it, but they work the same. You can make your own sauce. I buy tomato sauce, add a little cooked ground beef to it and then out it on the crust. Then I just load all my topping on the pizza. You can also add Italian seasoning to the sauce.
