try this:

4/8 cup = 1/2 cup

substitute 1/2 cup molasses
or 1/2 cup dark or light corn syrup
or 1/2 cup maple syrup

For 1 cup honey called for in recipe:

use 1 1/4 cups granulated sugar plus 1/4 cup liquid (use liquid called for in recipe) --> like water or apple juice

OR

1 cup molasses

OR

1 cup light or dark corn syrup

OR

1 cup pure maple syrup.

You can use corn syrup, but it won't be as good. 4/8 of a cup is 1/2 cup by the way. I'd substitute the same amount.

corn syrup will work, or if you are real desperate, make a simple sugar syrup from water boiled with sugar till thick like syrup. for a definite flavor use sorgum or molasses.
