KitchenAid Standing Mixer question?!

Question: Are the mixing bowls interchangeable? I have a 4 1/2 quart and am looking to find out if the 5 quart would fit the base.

sorry they are not. the 4 1/2 qt I got as a gift did not fit my custom-it has a 5 qt bowl.

I checked the web site for ya, and their bowls are model specific. It probobly has something to do with the rotation dimentions of the beater. Sorry

I have the 5 quarte because I dont think you can change them. The mixing demension is designed to scrap the bowl lightly when mixing. I would not suggest it but I would imagine there is a hot line you can call with kitchen aide to ask questions. GL
