What does braised beef taste like?!
Answers: i got hold of a recipe which calls for beer/wine...any ideas how it will turn out?
Yum. I would use wine over beer. I usually marinate the steak with olive oil, one clove garlic and some lemon juice. I cook it either in oven or on the stove on very low until tender. Add any herbes or spices you like. Yum.
beef braised in beer/wine will taste beautiful, braised meat usually ends up being very very tender
braised beef is so tender if you cook it slowly, doesn't sound as attractive as it tastes. But I wouldn't suggest beer, wine would be better, leave it to sit and marinate for a while before slow cooking... makes me hungry just thinking about it!
Enjoy =)
Delicious. Braising means to cook the meat with slow moist heat. An example of this cooking method is the slow cooker.
The less expensive cuts of meat do very well with this cooking method because it helps to tenderize them and to break down the connective fibers. The slow cooking with liquid also helps to flavor the meat. Either wine or beer will enhance the flavor and will act as a tenderizer.
Another ingredient that can be used to tenderize meat is vinegar. The most familiar recipe for this is Sauerbraten which is a German dish of marinated beef with water, spices, vinegar, lemon and onions. You let it marinate 3 days in the refrigerator, strain and then cook using the strained marinade as the cooking liquid. It is delicious. We will sometimes let it marinate a bit longer to increase the flavor and then use the cooking liquid with gingersnaps to make a gravy.
It's great so tender, i do it with onions & red wine.
it will be some of the tastiest softest tender beef you will ever eat and you will want it again and again i cook mine with beer ,dark beer not lager,try a stout beer but not Guinness as its too dark ,hope you enjoy it
