What are some good mushrooms to try?!

Question: I was hoping to get some suggestions on types of mushrooms to use in stir-frys and with pasta. I like the white "button" mushrooms, but have gotten a little tired of them. Any other good suggestions?

Try Crimini mushrooms (the little dark brown button type mushroom) oyster mushrooms, portobella mushrooms are awesome grilled!, shitake; Japanese mushrooms, morells, truffles(yes they are a type of mushroom), enoki, wood ear, and trumpet, just to name a few. here is a article about wild mushrooms available in stores around the SF Bay Area in California. But most of these varieties are available at many if not most fine grocery stores (not the warehouse type)

I do not know. mine are all in a can.

portabellas are delicious, also try morels and shitakes

Huitlacoche is great for stir frys. It might look gross but it tastes great. FYI, it's a delicacy in Mexico.

I am a stir fry fan. I love oyster mushroom or enoki. Sometimes I use button mushroom as well.

goldtops or blue meanies

portobello and shitaki

just a little info to help unconfuse you by some of these rambling answers...1) Cremini's are just the baby version of the larger portabello mushrooms....2) If you decide to spend the money on truffles....please dont stirfry them with the food...they are to be added at the very last shaved atop the meal.....enjoy your fungus;-)

The one and only.....Portebello
so many ways to make with them and they are my FAV
