What do you use your electric mixer for other than dessert?!

Question: I am kind of new to cooking and I recently purchased an electric mixer. So far I have used it for french toast (to mix the eggs & milk) and also for mashed potatoes. What else can I use it for (meals rather than dessert)? A recipe would be great. Thanks

well mixers being a last generation version of the newer hand blenders,..you could whip potatoes,
mix a vinaigrette, chantilly cream etc. They still have uses,..take a peek at this site..

www.SilverCulinary.com pretty good uses.

I`ll ask my wife......she`s in the bedroom with it right now......

If you make your own refried beans, cooked pinto beans, you can use your mixer to mash them.

I use it to puree vegetables for hot and cold soups like tomato basil and leek soup or gazpacho. My favorite is red bell pepper soup--- Core and seed 8 large red bell peppers, cut into small peices (about 2 inch square) chop one small onion and cut 10 leaves of fresh basil. Put in large soup pot (with a durable bottom as you will be using your mixer). Add two TBSPs Extra Virgn Olive Oil, Salt, Pepper (to taste) and one tsp. fresh minced garlic. Add two cans of chicken broth or one of those larger boxes (i like the free range organic). Bring to a simmer and simmer until the vegetable are nice and soft and beginning to mush. Puree the soup all together with your electric mixer until smooth. Put on very low heat and add one small carton of plain nonfat yogurt, mix in well. Serve hot or cold --- this is so nutritious and elegant.

Just an example... you could use it for the cream cheese topping for veggie pizza... it's a block of cream cheese, a cup of sour cream and half of a packet of ranch powder mix. Spread that on top of baked crescent roll dough and top with your favorite veggies. Easy idea for the mixer and it's not dessert!

I think the majority of the time I use it IS for desserts - cake batter, cookie dough, whipping cream, icing, muffins, etc. I wouldn't even bother mixing the french toast mix with it, easier done with a fork. I don't think most main dish things need to be blended that well & meatloaf is easier done with your hands. It's kind of bizarre wanting to make something JUST to use your mixer. When you need it, you'll have it.
I did use it to mix up a cheese mixture for Cheese Puffs (appetizer) on New Year's Eve and to make fruit smoothies.
