All Clad vs Scanpan Cookware?!
Any opinions? Thanks.
Answers: I got a wonderful 6 qt All Clad saute pan for Christmas and am realizing I'd much rather have more of a stockpot. I've chosen a Scanpan pot from Chef's Catalog, to make the exchange, and wonder if I should be looking at All Clad instead. The price of the Scanpan is sure better, and it seems as durable and easy to clean.
Any opinions? Thanks.
In my professional opinion, if you're just going to be using a stockpot for sauces and artichokes, I would keep the All Clad 6 quart saute pan and go for a generic stockpot from a restaurant supply (I got a great 16 and 28 quart from Smart and Final for a great price). Just a suggestion......Once you use that All Clad for sauteing, you'll be glad you did!!! Enjoy!!

All Clad is the best, you have to remember that it does have a life time warranty. Scanpan is ok sorta like Tefal
I actually use Le Creuset cookware, but I suggest you do not worry so much about the brand, but the application. If you are buying a stock pot, I would look for the appropriate size and material composition - you do not want the bottom of the pot to be too thin, as it will scorch or warp, and no one wants a non-stick stock pot, as you will simply scrape away the the bottom with stirring.
Also, consider size. At work I use a 25 gallon stock pot to make chicken broth, however, I have two people at home, so generally I use a two gallon stock pot at home.
Why not step out of the box and look at an enamel on steel product like Chantal. It's my new favorite cookware. The easy-to-clean enamel has naturally stick-resistant properties, which means you can use less oil. There's no polishing or seasoning required . The core of carbon steel, on the bottom and all the way up the sides, heats faster and more evenly. It can withstand temperatures from the freezer to the broiler. The non-porous enamel won't interact with foods or flavors, so you can store leftovers or make-ahead meals in the refrigerator or freezer.
Stick with All- Clad You can't go wrong with the best. Fusion Five Scanpan is pretty good but much thinner and faster than All-Clad. Read easier to burn food.
