Freezing meat?!

Question: I had originally frozen some ground beef. I defrosted it and made a meatloaf. Can you freeze the leftover meatloaf or is it a bad idea since the meat was alredy frozen once?

It will not be harmed nor lose flavour by refreezing. Wrap the left over meat loaf in foil nice and tightly, then place into a plastic bag and seal or a suitable plastic container with snug lid. This is a good way to save yourself cooking a meal somewhere down the track as you have got the meat loaf. One suggestion you may like... when you have thawed the meat loaf and want to reheat it, cover the whole lot with mashed potato and sprinkle on a little cheese and a dash of paprika (the sweet one) and then re-heat in your oven. It is lovely that way with a bit of gravy.

Enjoy your lovely home cooking.

You can safely freeze the cooked left over meatloaf. It doesn't matter that the meat was froze before cooking. This is not considered re-freezing.

You can safely freeze it, because you cooked it. You couldn't safely refreeze it if it was still raw.

You might notice some loss of flavor, though. It won't affect the safety of the food, but might affect the quality.

Meat which has been defrosted, then cooked can be frozen again. I work in a cafeteria and have frozen cooked thawed meat. No harm is done. I do this at home on occasion.

Bad idea you should never refreeze meat.

Yes you can and it's not a bad idea. You will have a quick meal later in the week. But don't freeze it all, a meatloaf sandwich for lunch is the greatest. And since I get the feeling that you are new at this don't forget to repackage all your meat before freezing. I wrap it plastic wrap and then freezer paper and label and date. You will not lose any meat to freezer burn this way.
