Wanting to make soup, but I have no base..?!

Question: But... i do have a large jar of thick and chunky salsa.. How would that be with some corn, peas, green beans, and rice? Is it something that I may have to water down or thicken up?

Instead of rice, why not add pasta? Even broken up spaghetti? With allyour vegetables, you can produce a good Minestrone. Serve with grated cheese.

Sounds good- mix it all up and add water to your desired consistency. If you had some cheese to top it off with, that would be perfect.

Do you have an onion, some green and/or red pepper. Chop them finely, saute in a small amount of butter or oil and add to your salsa. Then if you have either a beef or chicken broth or boullion cube plus a cup of water add that to the salsa along with the vegetables and rice. Heat thru, adjust seasoning with salt and pepper to your taste. You could also use tomatoe juice, V8 juice or a can of tomatoe sauce or diced tomatoes to extend it.

Do you have canned soups or dry packages of soup, they have base in them that can be added with all your other ingredients. That would help the flavour, otherwise the soup would need more spices when you water down your salsa.

Salsa, corn, rice, that could work, add water, puree some of the corn, cook for a bit to get the flavors mingling.

You may not have all of the ingredients for this right now, but this is my favorite soup!!

2 lbs ground beef
2 cans Rotel
1 can black beans
1 can kidney beans
1 can corn (drained)
2 pks ranch dip
1 pkg taco seasoning

So good! Cook hamburger, drain fat. Add other ingredients and cook for 30 minutes. We top with Cheddar Cheese and use either tortilla chips or crackers with it.
