Meals for a Teenager?!
Answers: I'm 16 and I'm home by myself from Friday morning to late Sunday night (my parents are taking my sister back to school, she goes to college 400 miles away from me). I can cook quite well--I have had parties and entertained making everything myself from scratch and it turns out great, I just want some suggestions for what I can make this weekend that will be easy to make and still taste good. Please provide recipes if you can. I'd like something unique, preferably but not necessary. Thanks in advance!
terriyaki chicken and veggies is great, and yummy. it makes a lot so you can have it for dinner on fri and lunch on sat and sunday if you want.
1 lb pasta (any type you like, but I like penne with this)
1 lb chicken, cut into chunks
as many veggies as you like, whatever you like. (i use 1 pkg pre-sliced mushrooms, 1 onion, chopped, 1 summer squash chopped and 1 zucchini chopped)
4 cloves garlic, smashed
4 tbsp olive oil
1 jar terriyaki sauce (or whatever marinaide you like)
handful of shredded cheese
Ok, so you marinate the chicken in 1/2 the marinade, and the raw veggies in the other 1/2. You can do it for 10 minutes, half hour, however long you have.
Cook the pasta. Toss with 2 tbsp oliveoil and the cheese, while it's still hot.
Then, heat up a fry pan with the rest of the oil. Add the garlic and chicken. Cook until the chicken is brown on all sides. Add the veggies and cook till they are soft and the chicken is cooked. Mix with the pasta. Enjoy! :)
Another easy thing is chicken roll ups.
That's just a chicken breast that's pounded thin, then you add cheese, maybe ham, some spinach if you have it..and roll it up. Secure with a toothpick, drizzle with olive oil and bake at 375 for about 25-30 minutes. Hope those help!
make some hotdogs. ther quick and peeps like them. or i would make cheasey bread. its garlic bread with melted chease on top it fast and easy and delicious.

Add about 2 tablespoons of eggroll filling in the center of each wonton wrapper. Roll according to package directions. Brush with egg mixture. 3/4 cup diced sweet red peppers

Chicken or Pork Fried Rice
3/4 cup finely chopped onions
2 1/2 tablespoons oil

3 drops soy sauce
3 drops sesame oil
8 ounces cooked lean boneless pork or chicken, chopped

2 tablespoons light soy sauce
--Heat 1 tbsp oil in wok; add chopped onions and stir-fry until onions turn a nice brown color, about 8-10 minutes; remove from wok. Allow wok to cool slightly. Mix egg with 3 drops of soy and 3 drops of sesame oil; set aside. Add 1/2 tbsp oil to wok, swirling to coat surfaces; add egg mixture; working quickly, swirl egg until egg sets against wok; when egg puffs, flip egg and cook other side briefly; remove from wok, and chop into small pieces. Heat 1 tbsp oil in wok; add selected meat to wok, along with carrots, peas, and cooked onion; stir-fry for 2 minutes. Add rice, green onions, and bean sprouts, tossing to mix well; stir-fry for 3 minutes. Add 2 tbsp of light soy sauce and chopped egg to rice mixture and fold in; stir-fry for 1 minute more; serve.

pizza soup
Ingredients and Steps:
3 links of turkey Italian-style sausage (about 2/3 pound)
1 teaspoon olive oil
1 medium onion
1 small green bell pepper
14.5-ounce can stewed tomatoes, Italian style
14.5-ounce can fresh diced tomatoes, Italian style or with basil, garlic, and oregano
14.5-ounce can beef broth, or 2 cups fresh
1 cup sliced mushrooms (about 3 ounces)
1 teaspoon fresh oregano leaves (optional)
Grated Parmesan or mozzarella cheese as desired (or about 1/2 cup)
Remove the sausage from its casings.
Heat the olive oil in a non-stick skillet on medium-high heat. Add the turkey sausage, breaking it up with a wooden spoon.
While the sausage cooks, peel and chop the onion.
Chop the bell pepper into 1-inch chunks, discarding the seeds, membranes, and stem. Set aside.
When the sausage is half-cooked and breaks up easily into pecan-size chunks, stir in the onion. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the sausage is browned and the onion soft and cooked through.
Pour the mixture into a 3-1/2 to 5 quart slow cooker.
Stir in the cans of stewed and diced tomatoes, beef broth, and the bell pepper.
Cook on low about 3-1/2 to 4 hours, or until the bell pepper is just cooked through. Stir in the mushrooms and fresh oregano (if using) and cook another 30 minutes. (It doesn't hurt to cook the soup longer, but the longer bell pepper cooks, the softer it becomes.)
Serve in bowls, passing the grated cheese on the side.
Vary It! To cook on the stovetop, follow Steps 1 through 5 and combine the ingredients in Steps 6 and 7 in a heavy-bottomed pot instead of a slow cooker. Cover and simmer on low for about 45 minutes, stirring occasionally, or until the flavors come together. Stir in the ingredients in Step 8 and simmer another 10 minutes, or until the mushrooms soften. Serve as in Step 9.
Vary It! Instead of Italian sausage, add 1/2 pound lowfat pepperoni or smoked sausage directly to the crockpot, without pre-cooking.
grilled cheese and Campbell's tomato soup. Served with pickle spears or pickle slices on the side.
Macaroni and cheese with frozen mixed veggies stirred in (microwave them in a little water for about 3-4 minutes first)
Nachos - top tortilla chips with chili or hot dog sauce, shredded cheese, sour cream, lettuce, tomatoes, olives, onion, jalapeno, canned beans, guacamole (whatever you have and/or like)
Baked potatoes topped with chili or the nacho toppings I mentioned above
Make spaghetti with sauce from a jar. After combining the noodles and sauce, pour it into a greased casserole dish or oven safe dish/pan and cover with cheese, then bake at 375 degrees for about 10 minutes or until cheese is melted. Provolone or mozzarella cheeses are good toppers, but any cheese would be fine. Pepperjack is delicious.
for breakfast, make some scramble, hard-boiled or soft boiled eggs, a sandwich (mayonaise mixed with corn, bacon, ham, and any left-over chicken)
for lunch, make some bake potatoes or mash potatoes, add some butter, cheese, garlic and bacon. Voila! then get some ground beef or pork to heat the pan until it's sort of brownish, indicating a well-done.
for dinner, if there are more left overs, just heat it up. Bon appetite!
Cook up a meatless spaghetti sauce (onions, garlic, tomato sauce, tomato paste, Italian seasoning) and eat it on:
pasta
homemade pizza
broiled French bread with cheese
poach eggs in it
then add chili powder, cayenne pepper, cumin, and beans and make it chili.
