What flavor cake would be best with vanilla buttercream frosting?!

Question: I have a white cake mix and a devil's food cake mix in the cupboard. Which should I use? Anything I could do to make it more interesting?
Thanks!

hi vanilla, since vanilla buttercream is such a universally appealing flavor, i think either one of those 2 cake mixes would work great. i would go with the devil's food cake because i love chocolate and the combo of vanilla and chocolate is yummy. also the contrasting colors will look really pretty. in order to make it more interesting, you could add a shot of very strong espresso into the mix with the rest of the ingredients because strong coffee brings out the best in chocolate. or you could make the filling in the middle fresh strawberries or fresh sliced bananas instead of the frosting, that is really yummy. or you could make the basic cake mix, the basic frosting filling and instead sprinkle toasted sliced almonds on top to make it both taste better and look prettier.

White cake with real strawberries

Either one will be a winner! You could add raspberries as a garnish. That would be goooooood!

Maybe put chocolate chips in the batter, or sprinkles. That sounds yummy!!!

Chocolate is always the best with anything. Use chocolate!

marble or chocolate.

mix them together why not

Devils Food Cake Mix.

It depends on your favorite kind of cake

Devils Food Cake all the way baby! =]

Vanilla buttercream cake

yellow cake

I think the devil's food would be awesome with the vanilla frosting. Now you made me hungry!!

My stomach would really enjoy white cake. And if any stomach knows cake, it's mine.

pumpkin cake! its so good. my mom makes it sometimes and it has a homemade butter cream icing, its increcible.

strawberry cake and real strawberry's on top...mmm. and then you could put like a cherry sauce...yum! and then pecan crumbs all over it....ahh i'm done lol

German chocolate cake. I use this with pecan frosting all the time(or at least the last thirty years)

The Devils Food would be very good, great contrast.

White..Cherry chip

Devil's food cake.... add some butterscotch chips

Definitly Carrot Cake.

marble!

there's a cake devil foods make its a red cake, real deep rich color of red, i forget what its called but that would be the best, I've had it, to die for

ohh go with the devils food!

With either cake mix you could use real fruit, some chocolate candie mixins, some food colering to make it colorfull, or with the white cake mix you could add some extract like lemon, strawberry, blueberry ect. Or you can make a Red Velvet cake from the devils food!

devils food with white chocolate chips and marzipan flowers on top. Maybe put whipped cream in the center and in small bunches on top.

Either one would do just fine. You can sprinkle some slivered almonds on top of the frosting.

I think I would use the white cake, but either would be fine. If you have some bakers cocoa you could add it to the buttercream to make it chocolate.

CHOCOLATE CAKE OF COURSE!!! to make it more interesting, you could decorate it with sprinkles, or a different colored icing that spells something out

Chocolate! You could put sliced almonds, chopped pecans, chocolate shavings, etc on top and between the layers. You can add nuts and/or chocolate chips to the cake batter or even to the frosting if you like.

I WOULD USE YELLOW BUT SINCE U DON'T HAVE IT GO WITH THE WHITE... TO MAKE THE FROSTING MORE CREAMY ADD A TUB A COOL WHIP (8OZ) YUMMY IT WILL MAKE IT MORE CREAMY AND GIVES IT A BETTER TASTE... TYR IT U WILL LOVE IT AND SO WILL EVERYONE WHO EATS THE CAKE...
