Broth mix?!
Answers: ive got some broth mix and my mum told me how to soak it overnight and rinse it thoughly to get the solution off. then what do you do? and what can i add to it?
You can make a thick vegetable soup with it:
Onion, leek, carrot, potato, celery - chop finely, sweat in a little butter or oil, add the drained broth mix, some tomato puree, a pinch of thyme or mixed herbs, black pepper and plenty of water bring to the boil and simmer until the veg and broth mix are soft (around 40-45 minutes). Add salt to taste and eat with crusty bread.
You can add larger chunks of the veg and lamb, a smaller amount of soaked broth mix, less water and bake covered in the oven for 3 hours at 150degrees c if you want a hearty stew.
You add IT to more veg....and meat if you want....you could finely chop some garlic one clove...gently heat it in a tablespoon of olive oil and then add chopped carrots, onion, swede or sweet potato...cook for ten mins on low heat, then add a pint of stock...get a stock cube veg or meat...like oxo....and mix in hot water...add your broth mix and simmer for an hour.
you can put whatever veg you like, but put potatoes in around 15 -20 mins before the hour is up...if you want meat in it then stir fry it chopped up with the garlic at the begining,
i have done the same as the previous answerers, used it in soup and stews/casseroles...adds a delicious texture and thickness!
