Whats you favorite thing to cook?!
Answers: I want to bake or cook something but I don't have any ideas....What do you like to bake. For example your favorite cookie oor brownie. Or your favorite dinner. Please write the ingredients and how to make it. Or post a link to were you got it. Thanks in advance!
Well, I was recently introduced to 'icebox cake'. Traditionally, it's made with graham crackers, butterscotch pudding and bananas, that's it. I liked it so much that I'm trying different kinds. For example, yesterday I made an 'Hawiian' icebox cake. I thought to myself, why not?
No baking required.
1) Layer graham crackers at the bottom of a baking dish.
2) Add a layer of sliced bananas, drained pineapple chunks and shredded coconut flakes.
3) Mix up some instant vanilla pudding and pour over the top.
4) Continue layering (crackers, fruit, coconut and pudding) until you can't fit anymore in the pan (you know, like you're making a lasagna) -- this will probably take 2 boxes of pudding and 1 entire box of graham crackers.
5) Put in the refrigerator for several hours (over night, even better). The pudding gets absorbed in the crackers and it's HEAVENLY!
Enjoy!

I love making pasta and pasta sauces with real garlic bread. In the summer, we grow our own tomatoes and I make homemade spaghetti sauce. Here's a few fun pasta recipes and my homemade garlic bread recipe:
Homemade garlic bread:
1 cube real butter
3-4 cloves garlic, minced
Saute together about 5 minutes.
Spread on fresh sliced french bread with a pastry brush. Heat under the broiler until light brown. Yummy!!
Also, this is a yummy but different salad:
1 pkg pre-made coleslaw
1/4-1/2 cup shredded parmesean cheese
1/2 pkg caesar croutons
1 bottle creamy caesar dressing
Toss first three ingredients together. Add enough dressing to coat. It's even good the next day!
Fettucini Carbonara
1/2 pound bacon
1/4 cup whipping cream
4 beaten eggs
1 pound fettucini, cooked
1/4 cup butter, melted
1 cup grated parmesan cheese
1/4 cup snipped parsley
Heat oven-proof serving dish in 250 degree
oven. In skillet cook bacon till crisp. Drain; crumble. Heat cream till just warm. Remove from heat; beat in eggs. Toss pasta with butter. Pour egg mixture atop. Toss till well-coated. Add bacon, cheese, and parsley; toss to mix.
Sprinkle with pepper. Serves 6.
Chicken Scampi **
(easy but delicious and elegant)
1/2 cup butter
1/4 cup olive oil
1 tsp dried parsley
1 tsp dried basil
1/4 tsp dried oregano
3 cloves garlic, minced
3/4 tsp salt
1 Tbsp lemon juice
4 boneless, skinless chicken breast halves, sliced lengthwise into thirds
In a skillet heat the butter and olive oil on medium high heat until butter is melted. Add parsley, basil, oregano, garlic and salt and mix together. Stir in lemon juice.
Then add chicken pieces and saute for 3 minutes or until white. Lower the heat and cook for about 10-15 mintues or until chicken is cooked through. More butter can be added if needed. Serve chicken over hot angel hair, or other pasta and pour some of the sauce over it all.
I love to plan a meal all day, then have a glass of wine while I cook with my husband. Have fun!

Probably pasta, because it's the most versatile.
Ingredients are not critical, whatever you have or like.
Boil water (add salt if desired) put in any pasta shape.
Chop onion, crush garlic, saute in oil, add chopped peppers.
Sometimes I add sliced carrots to the water,
or chopped celery to the onion in oil.
Choose any kind of sauce, tomato or mushroom (soup).
Add any spices: oregano, basil, etc.
You can also use any kind of protein you have/like:
ground beef, sliced sausage, canned tuna, etc.
Combine in a bowl, on a plate, or bake in a casserole.
Sprinkle with Parmesan/Romano, or grated mozzarella.
Top with sliced tomatoes or mushrooms.
I like to make dumplings of all kinds- pierogies, wontons, pot stickers, ec. They take a lot of work, but homemade is ALWAYS ways better and is worth the work. I can't give you my pierogie recipe- I won't even give it to my dad! But here's my recipe for veggie wonton soup:
-1 pkg wonton wrappers (available in the produce section at the supermarket)
-small bunch baby bok choy
- 6 med button mushrooms
-1/2 c cooked rice (brown or white)
- 6 green onions
- handful of snow peas
- veggie (or chicken) broth, a couple of cans will do
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1-2 TBS oil
- 1 tsp (or 1 clove) minced garlic
wash all the veggies. Chop the mushrooms into a VERY small dice- almost minced (like 1/8 inch cubes). Slice a few (like 6) snow peas and 2 green onions into small pieces. Heat the oil in a medium skillet. Add the garlic and mushrooms. Cook for a couple minutes, till the mushrooms are tender. Add the rice and cook for a minute. Remove from heat and add the chopped green onion and snow peas and soy sauce to taste. Add the egg.
Line up several wonton wrappers on your work surface and put about 1 tsp of filling on each. Brush a little water on 2 adjacent sides of the wonton and fold over to make a triangle. Try to get as much of the air out as possible (otherwise it'll come open when cooking in the broth), the pinch the tips of the triangle together to make a little bundle. Repeat till all of th filling/ wonton wrappers are used.
Chop the bok choy, remaining green onions and snow peas into smaller bite-sized pieces.
Bring the broth to a boil, then reduce the heat a little. Add the stuffed wontons and cook at a gentle boil a few minutes, till they float. Add the remaining veggies to the broth and let cook a minute or so.
The wontons don't keep well after they've been cooked because they will absorb the broth from the soup. I usually make a big batch of wontons and freeze them before they're cooked. To heat them, I just bring some broth to a boil and put the frozen wontons in to cook, adding extra veggies at the end. You could also add some ginger to the wontons- I just don't care for it. I usually serve the soup with fried rice. If you want a meat version, just use turkey or pork sausage (from a tube) instead of the mushrooms, being sure to cook thoroughly.
