Hi Jonathan - I have some links below for you, but here is some advice from the voice of experience: (1) eat breakfast - I can't stress that enough; (2) 3 light meals spaced out with 3 snacks over the day is infinitely better for you than one, two or even 3 meals a day - because, believe it or not, eating small meals spaced out keeps your metabolism revved and actually HELPS you to burn fat - eat a good breakfast, then a snack at 11 (apple or yogurt), then a light lunch, then snack in afternoon (fruit or yogurt or a few tablespoons of peanut butter or some nuts), then light dinner (protein, vegetables, calcium source, not too many carbs), then you can have a snack later in evening (fruit, yogurt, nuts, a 100 to 150 calorie popsicle) but not TOO late as you want an opportunity to burn it off. (c) drink small amounts of water steadily all day and with meals - will help you to feel full and tydrate your body, (d) make sure you get adequate calcium to grow bones and a multi-vitamin every day; (d) check the diet sites to see how many calories you need to consume for your height, age and weight in order to lose weight; (e) avoid sugar, sugar-substitutes (except stevia - stevia is ok) and soda, don't eat too many carbs - if you must have sweets, try and stick to frozen fruit popsicles, fruit smoothies sweetened with honey and fruit (fruit smoothies, yogurt shakes are actually excellent for you and are acceptable sweets), things containing natural cane sugar or stevia are acceptable in small amounts - a few squares of dark chocolate may actually be good for you, as is tea with honey and lemon, (f) get lots of exercise - start small, stretch to avoid injuries, don't push it, build up GRADUALLY.
