Expired date yesterday on ricotta that will be used today?!

Question: I just bought ricotta at king kullen this MORNING- to realize now that it already expired YESTERDAY!!!!!!!! I am so mad!! I know, I know- I should have looked at the date...but I forgot- but still. My question is- do you think the ricotta would still be good if I used it tonight to make lasagna????

It's still good. It would still be good a week after the expiration date. Some people seem to think that food must be thrown away as soon the expiration date has arrived. Not so, but there are those who don't believe it. Enjoy your lasagna. :)

yeah. it's probly a best if used by date. like milk- it doesn't sour the day after the use by date.
if it's been kept properly and hasn't been opened you can it tonight!

you can take it back to the store if u have a recipt, if not try to take it back, but cheese is expired milk.... so i mean try it first before putting it in lasagna, if it is bad u can use cheddar cheese instead, i have used cheddar and mozzarella( ppl didnt like ricotta so i had to change it up, they liked it)

You'll be fine. Go ahead and use it.

It is probably fine....if it looks OK and doesn't have a bad odour go ahead and use it.

Worry not, calm down.......it'll be fine, though I would call the King Kullen and let the manager that you bought a dated product......but, the date being only one day off, no worries.......It will be fine......Enjoy!!

yeah i think its gona be alright. the food in most dollar stores ar already expired!!! so nothin much will happen unless it looks nasty or smells funny

That is the date for the staff to remove the product to get a refund from the distributer..
You can return IT
but my being single the soft cheeses always go over the date..
It can't hurt you ...you have till next weekend ±...

I think it'll be fine. I've chewed expired gum before (and it wasn't the day after, it was like a month after the date) and nothing happened to me.

If never before opened it is fine. The exp. date is merely a guide. It would not actually spoil for another month or more, usually only after air hits it.

it should be ok.
but never trust expired dairy when the weather is hot!!!
thank God we live in the uk!we can leave food out d fridge as weather is freezing!!!

Go to the store you bought it at and say it expired yesterday. And NEVER eat expired riccotta. In Italy we would buy a lot of it and we would put chocolate powder in it and it is SOOOOO good. You can also eat it for breakfest. You should try the low fat it is better for you. Hope you like it just like me.

If it's not opened, 3 day's is a good rule after the sell/buy date.

look at it if it looks fine smell it if it smells fine taste it i have never seen cheese go bad that fast so it will be fine

the expired date that is printed on the label isnt actually the date it will expire
packged foods that arent opened and are fridged in this case your cheese
dont always expire on the exact date
same goes for other foods
however if it wasnt packaged but it was in the fridge then their will be mold on it and no it wont be usefull
so yes its safe to use just make sure you use all of it

That is the sell by date. It is still safe to use and the taste won't be affected at all.

The dates on dairy mean selling in the store, you can add a week to that for the use by date. I think your lasagna will be fine.

Those dates on dairy products are "sell by" dates. They are still good for several days after those dates.
