How do you bake potatoes in the microwave?!
Answers: and how long do you put them in for please tell me step by step instructions
1) wash, pierce with fork (deep) or cut crosscut with knife making sure you cut at least to the center of the potato ( it will explode if it can't vent the steam)
2) cook in microwave ( about 5-6 min per med sz potato)
3) while its cooking cut tin foil, one piece per potato, sized big enough to wrap potato
4) with mitt , remove potato(s) from microwave oven ( they are VERY hot), place on foil squares, then wrap ( they will finish cooking while wrapped). DO NOT place back in the microwave.
5) set aside in a non-plastic bowl , maybe put a clean dishtowel over them to hold the heat in
6) wait about 7-10 min ... then unwrap, place on plate, add butter. Informal meals, after 10 min resting, just place foiled potato on each plate , let them peel the foil off, then add butter.
Skin will be moist, but edible. If you like crunchy skins, you should bake them in the oven instead. If you find it didn't cook through, put it back in the microwave for a minute or two WITHOUT foil
DON'T PUT TINFOIL ON THEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I learned that the hard way :(
what I did, is put two potatoes in a microwave safe bowl, and place a microwave safe plate on top to trap the steam. I cooked mine for 10 minutes and they were done
1 clean them well medium size ones 2. cut them with a deep cross but so that they are still connect and put butter or margarine in the cut.
3. place on slightly greased glass tray! 4. cook at half the time it takes to cook in a regular oven!
That's how I do it it! I do it often too! However lately I've been using a wok!
Wash the Potatoes off and then put them in a Ziploc bag ,seal the bag and use a fork to poke small holes in the bag ( to let some of the steam out) it usually takes about 5-7min per potato. Just check them after about 5 min by sticking a fork in them if it goes through easily its done.
1.wash Potato
2.take fork poke holes
3. wrap in plastic wrap
4. microwave for 3-5 min ( depends on size
check it by poking with knife to see if soft, tender inside, if needed add a couple more mins.
pierce potato with a fork or knife, wrap in saran wrap and cook approx 9 mins. add time if needed. more time needed if making more than one potatoe at same time
It really depends on what you're planning to cook. If it's a simple baked potato, first off it's better you use an oven to get them cooked properly. The simplest way would be to first punch in some holes onto the potato (or slice it in a few places, what every you choose) so it doesn't burst if over cooked. Add whatever seasoning or flavoring then pop it in.
Probably the simplest way to cook a whole potato if you ask me.
It really depends on the size of the potato.
Make sure you scrub and wash. poke a few holes.
You might want to wrap it in some plastic wrap or a paper towel.
A potato the size of your fist should take about 10 minutes on high or possible eight. It depends on if you are making one ore more.
A really big one could take 20 minutes. Just poke a fork and if it enters easily its done.
Wash potato and place in oven 8 min for small 12 for med large.. Also depends on wattage micro you have , test by inserting knife .If goes in easy its done .Trial and error is a good way to learn to cook
Wash your potatoes
Prick with fork all over each potatoe (avoids explosions)
Place in microwave
Close the door
Cook for 8 minutes
Remove from microwave and wrap in foil
Let stand 10 minutes
Serve
PS even better is to mirowave them 5 min and then place in conventional oven to finish baking. Tastes more like a traditional baked potatoe because the skins get crisp.
