Can anyone recommend a recipe for making my own flavoured popcorn?!
Answers: I have plain popping kernels which I can easily pop on the stove, just want to flavour them somehow. I prefer savoury flavours..
If you want to make your own flavored popcorn, make your own flavors!
What do you like?
Chocolate? Then toss the hot popped corn with chocolate chips, or Nutella, or Reeses Pieces, or cocoa powder and powdered sugar.
Cheese? Parmesan, or cheddar, or pepper jack, of smoked gouda.
Herbs? Basil, oregano, rosemary, or tarragon (WOW!) Maybe a little butter to enrich the herb.
Spices? Chinese spice powder, chili powder and cumin, poultry seasoning if your pining for Thanksgiving, or maybe pumpkin pie spice and a little brown sugar. Again maybe a little butter.
Go for it!
I like adding garlic and dill (and salt), or garlic and sweet curry powder (and salt). Throw some toasted nuts in too. Parmesan cheese is good as well. If you pop it on the stove, you don't need to add butter; the oil from popping will help the seasoning adhere.
tsorry i dont mean this to be smart *** but the store brands of sesoning are awsome lol,,,aslo i sometimes use parmasagn cheese and taragon its yumm or chille flakes
The best pop corn flavor is caramel. Heat some sugar and let it caramelize (brown colour) then add some butter in it. do not burn it. Mix it with pop corn. This is the best I have ever had.
Add salt, pepper, chili powder, and parmesean cheese to some melted butter pour over popped popcorn and mix/stir well. Also there are flavors out there to sprinkle on your popcorn. they are made by "kernal seasons" I have seen bar-b-q white cheese kettle corn choc marshmallow, etc look in the popcorn area at wal-mart or I order mine from a website called healthyheartmarket.com .
Here's a good savory recipe for popcorn. enjoy!
Savory Snack Mix
8 cups Popped popcorn
2 cups Salted fish shaped crackers
2 cups Whole almonds
2 cups Thin pretzel sticks
1/3 cup Margarine or butter -- melted
1/4 cup Parmesan cheese
1/2 teaspoon Garlic salt
1/4 teaspoon Onion powder
Heat oven to 325~. Mix popcorn, crackers, almonds and pretzels in a large bowl. Mix remaining ingredients. Pour over popcorn mix. Toss to evenly coat. Spread in ungreased 13x9" pan. Bake 15 minutes; stir. Bake 15 minutes longer. Remove from oven; cool. Store in airtight container. Makes 12 cups snack.
I have a sneaky little trick- I save the sachets of flavouring you get with instant noodles, or mac and cheese, or any other instant powder, and when the popcorn is popped i sprinkle melted butter on, coat the popcorn and dust the flavouring on. the cheese from macncheese boxes on popcorn IS OUTSTANDING. If I have no flavour sachets, I sprinkle some white vinegar over the popcorn, salt, pepper and butter and its really really good.
Before I pop my corn, mix together a handful of parmeson cheese, a bit of italian seasonings and dash of garlic powder. As soon as the corn is popped, toss the popcorn together with the cheese mix. I don't add butter to mine, but then we're trying to get a bit healthier with the snack foods. If you still want a butter flavor, try a couple sprays of a no-fat butter spray.
