make it the standard way then add raisins and pineapple, very yummy this way

sure- I amke coleslaw all the time, and the pre-packaged Dole bags of shredded slaw mix are great- but since you only have red- try this one:

Red Cabbage Slaw Recipe courtesy Bobby Flay
1/2 cup freshly squeezed orange juice
1/4 cup freshly squeezed lime juice
1/2 small red onion, coarsely chopped
2 cloves garlic, coarsely chopped
1/4 cup fresh basil leaves
2 tablespoons chopped cilantro leaves
1 tablespoon honey
1/2 cup canola oil
Salt and pepper
1/2 head red cabbage, finely shredded

Combine all ingredients, except cabbage, in a blender and blend until smooth. Season with salt and pepper, to taste. Place cabbage in a large bowl and toss with the vinaigrette. Season with salt and pepper and let sit 30 minutes in the refrigerator before serving.

i also love coleslaw! my recipe is to use some shredded cabbage, chantenay cabbage, onion, red cabbage double cream , egg mayonnaise and a sprinkle of chives.

Go buy some and pretend you made it...
Orrr, make your mother in law make some for you and pretend you made it yourself.

My wife and I love this one from Paula Deen

The Lady's Coleslaw

1/2 bell pepper, chopped
1 green onion, chopped
1/2 large carrot, chopped
1/8 cup chopped fresh parsley leaves
1/2 cabbage head
1/2 cup mayonnaise
1/2 teaspoon seasoning salt (recommended: Jane's Krazy Mixed-up salt)
1/4 teaspoon coarsely ground black pepper
2 tablespoons sugar
1/4 teaspoon lemon-pepper seasoning
1 tablespoon white vinegar

Using a food processor, gently process the bell pepper, onion, carrot, and parsley, being careful not to over process. Cut 1/2 of the cabbage into chunks and place in the food processor and process lightly, making sure the cabbage doesn't become mushy. Slice the remaining cabbage thinly. Mix the cabbage together with the processed vegetables. In a separate bowl, mix the remaining ingredients together and allow to stand for a few minutes. Combine the mayonnaise mixture with the vegetables and toss. Chill for 1 hour.

YUMMM, just like KFC

I don't like to use cabbage - I use courgette, with carrot, apple, mayo, some sunflower seeds and sultanas and a dash of lemon and salt- not at all a traditional coleslaw I know, but it is yummy

My Mom has the KFC cole slaw recipe ... let me look it up and I will attach it here later .........

Coleslaw, You have reminded me that I like it too.
There are two types of coleslaw Creamy and the other more of a oil and vinegar taste.
They are both delicious.
I usually use a green cabbage for coleslaw but I don't know what the difference is.Pre-sliced cabbage is available already bagged in some grocery stores.
1 small cabbage
4 carrots grated
1/2 green pepper
1 garlic clove crushed
2 TBSP vinegar
2/3 cup salad dressing
2-3tbsp sugar
1 tsp salt
coarsely grate cabbage and carrots.
grate the inside of the green peppper and discard skin
Add remaining ingredients and mix thoroughly.
Refrigerate
Keeps well for several weeks
Makes 6-8 servings
For a tangier coleslaw, eliminate salad dressing, increase vinegar to 1/3 cup and add 3 tbsp oil.

This recipe is available for a limited time only. Why?

1 pound white cabbage (1/2 small head)
3/4 pound red cabbage (1/2 small head)
5 carrots
2 cups good mayonnaise
1/4 cup Dijon mustard
1 tablespoon sugar
2 tablespoons cider vinegar
2 teaspoons celery seeds
1 teaspoon celery salt
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

Fit a food processor with the thickest slicing blade. Cut the cabbages into small wedges and place horizontally into the feed tube. Process in batches. Next, fit the food processor with the grating blade. Cut the carrots in half and place in the feed tube so they are lying on their sides. Process in batches and mix in a bowl with the grated cabbages.
In a medium bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, mustard, sugar, vinegar, celery seeds, celery salt, salt, and pepper. Pour enough of the dressing over the grated vegetables to moisten them. Serve cold or at room temperature.

Sorry T, I don't have one,
but I am soooo glad you asked !!
Here's my Star for you !!
I love these recipes !!

This isn't traditional coleslaw, but something different:

Caesar Coleslaw

1 pkg pre-made coleslaw
1/4-1/2 cup shredded parmesean cheese
1/2 pkg caesar croutons
1 bottle creamy caesar dressing

Toss first three ingredients together. Add enough dressing to coat. It's even good the next day!

I don't like the creamy slaw, I like it with vinegar and oil.

1 medium head cabbage, cored and shredded
1 medium onion, finely chopped
1 cup white sugar
1 cup vinegar
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon celery seed
1 teaspoon white sugar
1 teaspoon prepared mustard
3/4 cup vegetable oil

In a large bowl, toss together the cabbage, onion, and 1 cup sugar. In a small saucepan, combine the vinegar, salt, celery seed, 1 teaspoon white sugar, mustard and oil. Bring to a boil, and cook for 3 minutes. Cool completely, then pour over cabbage mixture, and toss to coat. Refrigerate overnight for best flavor.

I do less sugar, more vinegar and go easy on the oil

The easiest cole slaw, buy shredded cole slaw and add a jar of marzetties cole slaw dressing, not the one in the produce section but the marzetties in the mayonnaise isle

Pineapple Cole Slaw

1 pkg of shredded cole slaw veggies
1 jar of Jimmy's Pineapple Cole Slaw Dressing.

Toss cabbage in sauce and refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving. Im usually a "home-made" cook .. but we like this so well i use this recipe everytime i make it.
