Can I use heavy cream instead of butter for a simple cake?!

Question: Is the texture or the taste still the same?

Answers: Is the texture or the taste still the same?

no like the others say, but for the reason, butter, and the other fats are just fats and thats what your are looking for. pure fat is 100% , while cream is some where between 36% and 40% so the chemical balance in the baking formula would not be there. good luck and good baking, bacondebaker

No...you can use oil or shortening....not cream.

No you can't it isn't the same thing. Too much water.

I would say absolutely not. The consistency is very different, and the sweetness is different. I wouldn't risk it. Your dough will end up too liquidy and not bake properly.
Good luck,

Unless you whip the cream into butter, it may work, I would check out cream / butter recipies on line .

NO!!

When cooking on the stove top or even in the oven, you can fudge the recipe a bit, substituting this for that and adding something while taking away something else. It will probably turn our OK if not better.

Baking IS DIFFERENT. Baking recipes are not guidelines like other recipes, Baking Recipes are FORMULA any deviation from the formula will lead to a different and perhaps unpredictable result.

When baking, always follow the recipe exactly. Save your experimentation for the stovetop.
