Rice probs????!
Answers: hi , im doing a dinner party next weekend, and one of my guests is a vegetarian, an i told her id cook a rissoto, now im wondering wot kind of rice to use, is there a special kind or is long grain ok. recipie book just says " use risotto rice" ????????
Rissotto is hard to attempt for a first timer but if you've promised her one then why not substitue it for a nice veggie stir fry with rice or even noodles? You can buy sauces in little packets that do one or two people so it wouldn't be wasteful. Good luck anyway :)
risotto rice is either rissoto in a box (tesco sell it) ir short grain rice. if you can get rice pudding rice ( shorter grain rice) then use that. its defo not long grain.
rice for risotto is arborio rice
Aborio rice is the best one, but you can use regular long grain.
I have been using Jasmine or Basmati lately.
Arborio rice is best for risotto- it can be found in most grocery stores. most risotto's call for chicken broth, I like a rmushroom broth and make a great mushroom risotto....
Aborio rice is the best type to use but don't forget to use vegetable stock to make the risotto!
arborio rice works best... just keep it simple.... garlic, mushrooms, etc work well.
You should be able to find it at your grocery store, the box will be labeled either way Risotto or Arborio. It's very good if its made correctly. Good Luck and have fun at your dinner party.
If you have never cooked risotto before you might want to try Risotto Pronto made by Riso Gallo. It comes in a yellow box and is available at most larger supermarkets Inc Sainsbury and Waitrose. It is foolproof to make and comes in a variety of flavours such as cheese, tomato, mushroom. To make it look and taste homemade, just add a handful of mushrooms/sundried tomatoes/chicken etc
Hope the party goes well x
Arborio rice is best. Try adding some wine into your stock, it makes a difference!
