Why was my chocolate bitter?!

Question: i bought some bakers dipping milk chocolate the other day and dipped cookies into them. after they were done, they looked great but didnt taste as good. It kind had a bitter taste. it didnt really taste like real chocolate. how can i get it to something like the real chocolate dipped OREOS? what do i need to do or buy?

I think that "ready to melt and dip" stuff is pretty far from real chocolate. That may be the reason. Or, you scorched it while melting it.

Just melt a 12 oz. bag of semi-sweet chocoalte chips w/ about 2-3 Tbsp of whipping cream over a double boiler, whisking until smooth and shiny. Dip whatever into it, then let chocolate-dipped item harden on parchment paper.

Add lots and lots of sugar!
And some wax to make them all shiny like the commercial stuff.
