First get a large enough container or bowl. I use a 2 pint pudding basin, Pyrex or earthenware. For one person half a cup of oats, a full cup of milk and half a cup of water. The amount of water can be varied depending if you like the porridge thick or runny. Micro for 4 minutes, Mine is a 750 watt, so if yours is more powerful you might give a Little less. Also for the fist couple of times, watch through the glass window. You Will see if it is going to boil over. Open the door quickly to stop the micro. Let the porridge subside, then close door and restart Still watch it... You Will be able to assess the best time to suit your power of microwave. Main thing is , the porridge will rise so make sure the basin is large enough to start with.

You have to stir it half way through

You might have a more powerful microwave than the one they use for thier instructions, have a look and see how many watts (w) your microwave is and how many they say on the back of the packet, if yours is more powerful reduce the time by 30seconds to a min depending on how diffeentthe wattage is

I puts 3oz porridge oats, 200ml milk, 100ml water, sultanas, 1 teaspoon sugar, cinnamon, splash lemon juice in a big bowl (cause as it warms, it tends to boil high) fullpower for 3 minutes. Stir halfway through. Then stand a minute and eat. I like it thick mind. If too thick, add more milk..

put it in a bigger bowl

I put my usual amount of oats and milk powder into a LARGE microwavable bowl, add boiling water and micro for 5 minutes,or cold water and micro for 10 minutes.

I don't think you should unless you want it to taste of rubber,
but every minute you have to take it out and stir it.
Dont leave the spoon in the microwave

Use a large jug or basin. It will always boil over if you cook it in the dish you're going to eat it from.
The amounts of oats, milk, water and salt vary according to taste. (If you're going to sweeten it, do it afterwards). Cook it on full power for 2 minutes. Stir. Leave it to stand for a minute. Then cook it on full power for another minute.

I cup of porrige oats 2and a half cups of water or milk put in the microwave for 2 mins remove and stir replace in microwave for about 1and a half minutes enjoy

Perfect porridge

Ingredients

50g porridge oats
350ml milk or water, or a mixture of the two
Greek yogurt , thinned with a little milk and clear honey, to serve

Put the oats in a saucepan, pour in the milk or water and sprinkle in a pinch of salt. Bring to the boil and simmer for 4-5 minutes, stirring from time to time and watching carefully that it doesn't stick to the bottom of the pan. Or you can try this in a microwave. Mix the oats, milk or water and a pinch of salt in a large microwaveproof bowl, then microwave on High for 5 minutes, stirring halfway through. Leave to stand for 2 minutes before eating.
To serve. Pour into bowls, spoon yogurt on top and drizzle with honey.

Making it easy
If you don't want to bother getting the scales out in the morning, you'll need 1 mug of oats and 2? mugs of liquid. (Any mug will do, as long as you use the same for both measurements)

EASY porridge oats in bowl. Cover in milk. Put in microwave for 1min 30 secs, take out, stir, put in for another 1min. Should be spot on! EAT!

have a large glass mixing
place porridge oats and milk in the bowl, stir
and cook for 2 minutes take out stir the mixture and place back in and cook for a further 2 minutes
if you like you could add honey or blueberries !!

It boils over because the pot that you are using is not big enough for the porridge to expand. Just use a bigger pot for the same amount of ingredients and all will be fine. I use for one person half of a normal size tea mug of oats and one full mug of liquid. I use half milk half water. Put this in a large microwave bowl for three minutes and it is perfect every time

If it boils over at 4 minutes try it on 3 minutes, take out and stir the oats put in again for 1 minute. Job done.
