You'll do fine. Cooking takes practice...the more you do it the better you'll get. Maybe you can find a recipe you can prepare together :)

Some sites for recipes from easy to gourmet:
www.Recipezaar.com
www.recipezaar.com/recipes/simple,begi...
www.Chowhound.com
www.Foodnetwork.com
If you Google 'recipes' ... it'll bring up a lot of sites you can check out. Good luck!

I've listed two relatively simple recipes below:

Japanese Mum's Chicken by JanTheGypsy
The sauce will thicken to a glaze if you are patient. It just takes a bit of time. If you feel your chicken is cooked (and going to over cook) remove it before going on to reduce the sauce. Same thing, if you must use breast meat, remove it (so it doesn't dry out) and continue reducing the sauce . If you do it this way rather than thickening with cornstarch you will get a richer glaze and not need to add stock or broth instead of the water. It just takes patience.
4 servings
45 min 5 min prep

8 chicken drumsticks, skin on (the skin is important for flavour, and is so tasty to eat!)
1 cup water
1/2 cup balsamic vinegar
1/3 cup soy sauce
2 1/2 tablespoons sugar
1 garlic clove, peeled and bruised
1 small hot chili pepper, slit open, seeds removed

Place all the ingredients in a saucepan over a high heat.
Bring to the boil, then reduce to a simmer for about 20 minutes.
Remove any scum that rises to the surface.
Increase the heat, turning the drumsticks frequently in the sauce, and cook until the liquid has reduced to a sticky glaze.
Arrange the chicken on a serving platter, remove the garlic clove and chili from the liquid, and spoon the glaze over.

Taco Soup
Recipe courtesy Paula Deen

2 pounds ground beef
2 cups diced onions
2 (15 1/2-ounce) cans pinto beans
1 (15 1/2-ounce) can pink kidney beans
1 (15 1/4-ounce) can whole kernel corn, drained
1 (14 1/2-ounce) can Mexican-style stewed tomatoes
1 (14 1/2-ounce) can diced tomatoes
1 (14 1/2-ounce) can tomatoes with chiles
2 (4 1/2-ounce) cans diced green chiles
1 (4.6-ounce) can black olives, drained and sliced, optional
1/2 cup green olives, sliced, optional
1 (1 1/4-ounce) package taco seasoning mix
1 (1-ounce) package ranch salad dressing mix
Corn chips, for serving
Sour cream, for garnish
Grated cheese, for garnish
Chopped green onions, for garnish
Pickled jalapenos, for garnish

Brown the ground beef and onions in a large skillet; drain the excess fat, then transfer the browned beef and onions to a large slow cooker or a stockpot. Add the beans, corn, tomatoes, green chiles, black olives, green olives, taco seasoning, and ranch dressing mix, and cook in a slow cooker on low for 6 to 8 hours or simmer over low heat for about 1 hour in a pot on the stove. To serve, place a few corn chips in each bowl and ladle soup over them. Top with sour cream, cheese, green onions and jalapenos.

Fish is actually easy to make. Mix up some spices of your chose with some heavy cream, the spices I like to do are fresh dill, basil, oregano, chives, or what ever is ready in my garden. You don't have to use fresh. cook this in a 400 degree oven for 25 to 30 minuets. side dishes could be a salad and a starch of your choosing again.

I can't cook either but I do love jambalaya. All you do is buy some sausage and a box of zaterans jambalaya. Follow the instructions on the back. I like (polka kiabasa) sausage - it taste really good! When you cut up the sausage cut it in small sections, you don't want large pieces of sausage floating around. LOL It only takes about 15 minutes to cook. Really easy for girls like us!

Oh, I forgot to tell you that you don't need any other ingrediants. You just boil two cups of water in a pot put in the jam. box mix and the sausage, then stir occasionally. In 15 minutes it's done.

For a side; you may want to think about cresant rolls! They taste so good with them. Go to your local grocery and pick some up (pillsbury or walmart brand - doesn't matter) and bake them for about 8 minutes - DO NOT OVER BAKE because they won't taste as good. You have to watch them. You can get them out of the oven right when they start to turn golden.

I hope this helps!

Grilled Cheese is easy, meatloaf is easy, soups and crackers.

Maybe READ a cookbook, or any book for that matter. Reading would help you compose legible sentences, and spell the words correctly.

well, if you have a George Foreman grill, you could buy fresh chicken breasts, cook them on the george until they are white all the way through and the juice is clear (shouldn't take longer than 10-15mins) possibly served with pasta (boil for 8-10mins) or rice. Add some vegetables and ta-da! A lovely meal.

Well,Men like meat, so...

Hamburgers,BLTs,Subs,Chili,Steak.Tacos...

Hamburgers:Buy them already made in patties

Heat skillet to medium, wait until it is hot.
Season with a hamburger grill seasoning on both sides before and during cooking.,Cook on both sides for around 6-8 minutes each, depending on the thickness. Make sure you slit the burger to make sure there are no pink spots on the inside.

When done add cheese right away so it melts.
Cut onions,tomatoes,Peppers,Jalapenos,
You can get the pre-cooked microwave bacon for an extra topping also.
Chips,Dips,Brownies, cokes,ice tea.

I believe if you can read you can cook as its all about following a recipe..>=)
try some recipes online for potatoes, casseroles, main entrees, or crock pot recipes...all would be great to try just until you feel comfortable cooking more often...good luck!

If you can follow directions you can cook. Invest in the Betty Crocker's cookbook EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW TO COOK. It is an excellent first cooking guide. Not only does it have recipes, it has measurements, cooking techniques, and so much more. Someone turned me on to it when I was 19 and I was so thankful. I know I didn't really answer your question but I was looking to help you in the long run not just for a meal.

I hope you like Chili. This is the first thing I teach my kids to cook. Everybody loves it and it cost about $10.00 to make. Some like saltine crackers on the side and some like flour tortillas/butter. BTW, this is a secret recipe, lol.
In a large pot.....

Brown 1 1/2 to 2 pounds ground beef (I use ground chuck) and a large onion (chop coarsely "big chunks") together adding garlic salt (or regular salt)/pepper. Drain off grease. Put back in pot.
Add:
1 large can (28 oz) whole tomatoes (cut them up over the pot) and add the liquid, too.
2 cans (15 oz) pinto beans
2 cans (15 oz) Ranch Style Beans
1 can (15 oz) Kidney beans
1 can (15 oz) Wolf Brand Chili (no beans) (secret ingredient)
1 or 2 Tbs Chili Powder (I use Gebhardt brand, but use what you like).
Now heat that medium heat til it's about to bubble and then use low heat (simmer) until it is hot and looks really good; doesn't need to cook long. Enjoy!
P.S. Stir it often, so it doesn't stick to the bottom. If it sticks, you have the heat too high.

sloppy Joe's simple and guys love them
2 lbs. good hamburger
1 small onion chopped
brown burger and onions drain off fat , rinse so you get all the fat out
add 1 cup ketchup and 1 table spoon mustard
if you like'm sweet add 2 tablespoons brown sugar
stir till blended heat again in skillet and spoon on to buns
add chips and there it is
you can also add 1 can drained pork and beans for bean burgers if you like and cheese is good on these as well. yum yum

Southwest chicken

cook in a dr skillet until juices are clear, top with Paces Picante Sauce and shredded chedder cheese or Monterray Jack Cheese, cover with lid turn off heat let cheese melt. Serve. Make some Spanish rice (can get a mix at the store or find a recipe on www.cooks.com) And serve with a salad or sauteed vegi's seasoned with a little cumin, chili powder an garlic powder.

Or make Polenta, here's a recipe:

Or make lasagna: (serve with salad and garlic bread)
http://www.cooks.com/rec/view/0,1635,143...

Or make a Chinese style stir fry:

Or a good old Pot roast: cook some potatos and carrots and serve a salad with it.

stick with simple things at first. Stick with what you like.

So you can do 2 minute noodles pretty well.....well try that without the seasoning packet and make your own seasonings. Like brocoli and ham? throw some in with cooked noodles and cover with cheese, and just throw it in the microwave for a minute or two Like a good casserole? use the noodles as a base, and some eggs/cheese to bind. add whatever you like and bake it. No one can tell you how to cook, just think of things you already like and give it a whirl.....you will be surprised how easy it really is to make great food.

these aren't ideas you will find in most cookbooks, but they are easy, and quite good. Look at several recipes for what you like, and mix and match to make your own.

Ok this is as easy and delicious as you can get.

Cook up some chicken or buy a can of the shredded chicken breast over in the tuna aisle. Make sure it's the all white chicken breast if you do it this way. Crunch up a bag of doritos in a pan, add 2 cans of cream of chicken, 1/2 cup olives, (green or black, doesnt matter), the chicken, 1/2 cup hot sauce, and 1 cup of shredded cheese. Cook in a 350 degree oven for 25 minutes.

Smithfield, Hormel, Armour have packages of PRE-COOKED beef tips, roast, pot roast, pork roast, chicken, ham, meatload. Use this for your meat dish with a side dish or two of vegetables, rice, or potatoes. You will find these packages near the meat section, they are not frozen.

Tyson's fully cooked whole chickens are delicious. I serve them often with S&W canned sweet potatoes, Stove-Top dressing, microwave chicken/turkey gravy, a vegetable, cranberry sauce, and Pillsbury Microwave Biscuits which are better than I can make. A frozen pie defrosted and fully cooked. Perfect for one or two people at Thanksgiving or Christmas.

You can buy a roasted chicken or two at your supermarket's deli section. They also have all types of salads and vegetables already cooked.

Another thing you can do is cook in a slow cooker or a crock-pot. You put the meat meal into the crock-pot in the morning and it cooks all day long. The meal is ready at dinner time. Be sure to read the booklet that comes with the crock-pot. Here are some recipes for you:
