TEXAS CHILI RECIPE: (BEANLESS)

1 tablespoon minced garlic
1/4 cup chili powder
1 teaspoon red pepper flakes -- or to taste
2 tablespoons quick cooking tapioca
1 tablespoon oregano
1 teaspoon cumin
1 teaspoon black pepper
14 1/2 ounces canned beef broth
1/2 medium onion -- finely chopped
sour cream (optional)
lime wedges (optional
Texas chili is typically very spicy and contains no beans or tomatoes. We've toned down the spiciness a bit, in order to appeal to more people, but feel free to add more red pepper flakes if you really want to sweat!
1. Add all ingredients to the slow cooker crock and mix well. Cover and cook on LOW for 8 hours.
2. Stir chili well before serving and offer with sour cream and a wedge of lime, for a traditional Texas Garnish.
SERVE WITH Creamy Coleslaw or Faux Potato Salad (recipes in the The Everyday Low-Carb Slow Cooker Cookbook).
Canned pork and beans works well.
All you need to do is use a recipe you already have and skip the beans and the steps that have anything to do with the beans. Nice, simple, and easy.
Just make it as normal but with no beans - easy!
Use baked beans or soya beans instead.
No Beans About It - Chili
INGREDIENTS
1 pound ground beef
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 large onion, chopped
2 tablespoons chili powder
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1 teaspoon ground cumin
1 teaspoon hot pepper sauce
1 (28 ounce) can crushed tomatoes
1/4 cup red wine vinegar
DIRECTIONS
Crumble the ground beef into a stock pot or large Dutch oven over medium-high heat. Add the onion and garlic, and cook stirring frequently until beef is evenly browned. Drain off excess grease.
Season with chili powder, oregano, cumin and hot sauce. Stir in the tomatoes and vinegar. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low, and simmer for about 1 hour - or longer if you have time. Stir occasionally to prevent burning on the bottom.
Chili Con Carne means chili, (peppers), with meat. No beans in true chili, ever.
