Can you cook sausages in a slow cooker on their own?!

Question: Yes, but it'll take all day.

Why not fry them first with some onions, make gravy out of the juices and casserole them all day in the slow cooker?

Yum!

it takes ages

Not a good Idea...unless you like food poisoning

You'd need to have them in some type of liquid so that they wouldn't get dried out or burn. I've actually cooked them like that, submerged in Guiness beer, and they were great!

Yes, if you add a sauce or gravy. I would use a packet of Colmans sausage casserole mix just mix with water and add.

I wouldn't recommend it. It's best to cook things like stews and casseroles in a slow cooker.

I agree with skywiseO. . . that is the way I'd go... also maybe add some sauerkraut and beer a bit of honey (small amt) and caraway seed, and a can or 1/2 of a can of cream of mushroom soup...... Great!

You definitely can. Hot Italian sausages! Cooking suggestions (its great and easy): Hot Italian sausages, spaghetti sauce (or the like) in a crock pot. Cook in low for about 8 hours. I do that when I work. Dinner's ready when I get home. Just serve over pasta.

You can if you make them into some type of casserole, but they would look a bit aneamic if put in the slow cooker on their own, as they need to be turned and browned.

Have a look at the link I have given it has loads of slow cooker recipes.

I have cooked sausages in a crock pot with a sauce etc....then if u let it go cold in the fridge overnight and have it next day WOW you should see the 'fat' that has hardened in the sauce...!! amazing !!

I did it once. It made a mess of the slow cooker's sides and bottom.

Put a little water in the cooker. OR use tomato sauce/spaghetti sauce.

Thanks for asking your Q! I enjoyed answering it!

Yes but they shrivel up and look really unappetising !

Cook sausages in liquid with a packet of Sausage Casserole seasoning from the grocery store, add lots and lots of white onions and couple of T spoons of sugar and a squeeze of Ketchup, it tastes really good trust me !

No they'll go all dry and yucky and It'll take a very long time.
Bake them in the oven for 20 mins at 200degrees C or grill them.
