I make it in the crock pot, add some peas, some bacon on hamhawks and some salt and pepper and water to cover it all. So easy and so yummy!

Get some split peas , preferably yellow and a hock of bacon. Soak the peas over night.
Boil up with a bunch of garlic, onion, carrot and celery if you can stand it ( I can't) until the meat is cooked and add whatever other stock and flavourings take your fancy. Run through a liquidiser (without the meat), and reheat. Serve with croutons or crusty bread. Yummo!

I don't. my brother used to eat it all the time and boil it rather than simmer it. (He could burn a salad) It stunk the house out and I've never liked the smell since.

I won't give you a link, I'll give you my own recipe which my friends and family just adore...try it and let me know what you think when you do...

!6oz bag dry split green peas
6 large carrots
1/2 large or all of medium sweet onion
6 stalks of celery
Smoked pre cooked turkey sausage (optional)
1 tablespoon preminced garlic from a jar not dried
15-160z Swanson 99% fat free chicken broth
Salt and pepper to taste
tsp of greek seasoning
pinch of curry powder
Water as needed.

Bring water and broth to a boil, cut up your veggies while the water is heating up. Toss in with the peas and bring to a rapid boil. Leave on high boil for about 10 minutes then reduce heat to half, check often and add water as needed.
Cook as preferred we like it thick so don't add much water. Done in about 2 - 3 hours and soooo good. Serve with a small colorful salad and wheat cracker with cheese or butter.

Hope you enjoy! ^_^
