Menu ideas...?!
Thanks! xx
Answers: Can I have some menu ideas for a casual family dinner at our new house with my parents? I'd like to cook pasta as main dish, as I'd like to have a simple menu... Any good ideas for appetisers, pasta recipe and some simple dessert?
Thanks! xx
How about chicken parm. with some baked ziti, really easy. And add a ceaser or garden salad.
I am a pesto fiend! Easy and CHEAP to make, and it makes a great impression. For appetizer, maybe shrimp cocktail. A little pricey but they are your parents. Buy dessert and a good coffee to go with. Have fun!
appitiser=crackers/cheese/shirimp cocktail??
How about spahgetti? It is a simple meal that most everyone likees. You could have french bread and a salad with it.
Cheese and wine is good - get a red and white and an assortment of fancy cheeses. Some nice crackers too.
Just do a basic spaghetti - add some spices to the store-bought sauce. You could also buy an eggplant, chop it into cubes, sautee it a bit and throw it in the sauce.
Dessert - keep it light! Strawberries and whipped creme (with angel food cake if desired)
I had just seen this episode of Barefoot Contessa (on the Food Network) yesterday where she made spaghetti and meatballs and garlic bread. That may be an idea for your meal!

Perhaps a sorbet or ice cream for dessert?
Great deserts for a casual dinner are sorbet, moose, or you can make a Ice Cream Sunday bar, you just lay out different ice creams and bananas and whip cream and cherries and choclate to drizzle and sprinkles. Enjoy my ideas because they don't take alot of effort!
Lasagna and a nice huge antipasta both are so easy to make and make a great combo!
a great impressive, healthy, and easy dessert would be chocolate dippeed fruits: strawberries, green apple slices, pineapples, and oranges.
Believe it are not these all taste decadent dipped in chocolate and look great arranged on a platter.
Just get the chocolate from the baking aisle and follow the melting directions, slice your fruit first though, and voila!
there's a nice recipe for pasta right here (just keep scrolling till you see it):

How about this...
Easy spinach dip (recipe is on the box of Knorr's vegetable soup/dip mix) And you can either put it in a bread bowl and serve with bread cubes from the center of the bread and or crackers. Also I usually make the dip the night before and put in covered bowl in fridg.
Fettucini Alfredo with blackened boneless chicken breasts, the chicken is quick and easy...all you need is the chicken, a container of blackened seasoning and a little oil for the pan. sprinkle one side of the chicken and sear on med/high heat. sprinkle other side and sear that side. put in a pan and keep in oven to be sure they are thouroughly cooked and stay warm. The fettucini alfredo is easy too..or you can buy it premade. Then I like to slice up the chicken and serve it over the pasta.
A simple tossed salad
And the easiest dessert ever.....
a platter of different fruits (often you can buy them already cut and arranged if you wish)
Dip for fruit...this stuff is addicting... large container of marshmallow fluff/marshmallow cream, one 8 ounce pkg of cream cheese at room temperature and about 2 tblsp of vanilla extract. whip up the cream cheese, throw in the fluff and continue to beat until smooth, beat in vanilla. I also make this the day before. YUM...now i'm hungry. ha ha ha
appetiser: those shrip cocktails that u can buy at the store
main: eggplant parm or chicken parm with spahetti
desert: at the grosery store i go to has premade deserts if urs does jut get something there
welcome ?
