Whats your favourite meal from the slow cooker?!
Answers: and how do you make it
Shove as many diced veg in as you can allowing room for two lamb shanks.
Brown the lamb shanks in a frying pan and seal them. Add the pot. Brown off some sliced onions add them too. Make up a little veg. stock and cover the veg with it. Season. Plug in. Wait 24 hours (it;s a slow cooker!!). Eat. mm mmmm
Crock Pot Chicken & Noodles:
1 pkg. (3 or 4) boneless, skinless chicken breasts
2 T. butter
1 onion finely chopped
2 cans condensed cream of chicken soup
8 oz. uncooked egg noodles (roughly - I use less than a whole bag, just eyeball it)
Put everything except the noodles into the crock pot and add just enough water to cover it all. Cook 4-5 hours on high or 6-8 on low. A half hour before you want to eat, add in the egg noodles.
The chicken gets super tender, so that just stirring it basically shreds it for you.
beef stew and dumplings, my husband is a fantastic cook
irish stew,my wife makes it ,i just eat it!
im a 'bung it all in'type of person (bag of casserole veg from asda (shallots etc), some new potatoes, few fancy mushrooms, dash of tabasco, packet of sauce mix, and any meat (god, even the cheap stuff tastes wow!!)
i call my slow cooker 'wife'-shes great!
dont put sausages in though-they go mushy
turkey breast
put a thawed jenni-o turkey breast in the crock pot with 2 cups of water, salt peper and additional seasonings if desired. cook on low all day.
this will be the most tender turkey you have ever had. and jenni-o turkey breasts come with a delicious gravy packet. you combine the packet with some of the juice in the crock before serving to make gravy.
My family loves this when its cold outside
Chicken Stew with Rosemary Dumplings
Serves 4 to 6
1/2 cup (125 mL) all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon (5 mL) salt
1/2 teaspoon (2 mL) black pepper
1 (3 pound - 1.5 kg) whole chicken about, cut into pieces
1 tablespoon (15 mL) vegetable oil
4 large carrots, peeled and sliced 1-inch (2.5 cm) thick
2 stalks celery, sliced, 1/2 inch (1 cm) thick
1 onion, thinly sliced
1 teaspoon (5 mL) dried rosemary
2 cups (500 mL) chicken stock
1 cup (250 mL) frozen peas
Rosemary Dumplings:
1 cup (250 mL) all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons (10 mL) baking powder
1/2 teaspoon (2 mL) dried rosemary
1/2 teaspoon (2 mL) salt
1/2 cup (125 mL) milk
1 egg, lightly beaten
Fresh rosemary sprigs
In a bowl or plastic bag, combine flour, salt and pepper. In batches, add chicken pieces to flour mixture and toss to coat. Transfer to a plate.
In a large nonstick skillet, heat oil over medium-high heat. Add chicken pieces and cook for 8 to 10 minutes or until brown on all sides. Set aside.
Add carrots, celery, onion and rosemary to crock pot. Set chicken pieces over vegetables.
Pour 1/2 cup (125 mL) stock into skillet and cook over medium-high heat, scraping up brown bits from bottom of pan. Pour pan juices into crock pot along with remaining stock. Cover and cook on LOW for 8 to 10 hours or on HIGH for 4 to 6 hours, until vegetables are tender and stew is bubbling. Add peas and stir gently to combine.
Dumplings: In a bowl, sift together flour, baking powder, rosemary and salt. In a measuring cup combine milk and egg. Mix well and add to flour mixture. Stir with a fork to make a lumpy dough (do not overmix - lumps are fine). Drop dumpling mixture over chicken pieces. Cover and cook on HIGH for 25 to 30 minutes or until tester inserted in center of dumpling comes out clean.

2-3 pound top or bottom round roast or a boneless chuck roast
1 pound baby carrots
4 ribs celery, chopped
1 large onion, cut into eighths
6 medium to large potatoes, cubed - I like to use Yukon Gold
1 15-ounce can seasoned stewed tomatoes
1/2 can water
3 beef bullion cubes
Combine all ingredients in crockpot with meat on the bottom, set to low and allow to cook 8-10 hours. This can be put together the night before and set into the crockpot before you leave for work.

I use both a pound of ground beef and a pound of Italian sausage - a combination of both sweet and hot - and I have simmered it on top of the stove for 2 hours and it still tastes wonderful.
