Teriyaki is soy based, you might want to go to the food network and look for some simple teriyaki sauces........

it's usually

soy sauce
garlic
ginger
brown sugar
rice vinegar
pineapple juice

There are tons of variations on it, but those are the basic ingredients (not necessarily in order) And making your own only takes 5 minutes and tastes much better than that crap in the bottle in the grocery stores.....

teriyaki is the best dont change it

No-they are not interchangeable.

While teriyaki sauce is soy sauce based, it has other stuff added including sweetners like brown sugar or even pineapple juice. You can make your own teriyaki sauce easily--just go on-line.

They are not interchangeable

Heat 1C soy sauce in a sauce pan. Add 1/4C sugar, some fresh ginger, 1 table spoon Mirin rice wine vinegar. Bring to boil, then turn off heat.

Now you have Teriyaki sauce.
