My husband's father is from Poland.

Appetizers: SLEDZIE w SMIETANIE: Herring with sour cream, or,
PEROGI: filled noodles, boiled then fried in butter and served with sour cream. (I love the potato and onion but the cabbage or saukraut is also good).
Soup: ZUPA GRZYBOWA: mushroom soup with cream
Main Course: GOLABKI: cabbage parcels stuffed with meat or meat and rice
Vegetables: potatoes, beets, or KOPYTKA (dumplings)
Dessert: MAKOWIEC: sweet poppy cake, or.
SWEET PEROGI (filled with prunes or other sweetened dried fruits). My M-I-L boils these, drains them. Then she lightly browns them in pure butter. She then sprinkles with brown sugar and adds a dollop of sour cream.

Mazel Tov and Smacznego !!!
