It's the old fashioned espreeso.
consists of three parts - bottom for water, filter for coffee, upper part for collecting the coffee.
There is a line inside the bottom part, how much water is alowed.
Filter part is not supposed to be pressfilled with grind coffee - loosely fillit up to the top, do not press.
Now, check for your upper part - try blowing the air through it, (that snout inside the uppart) if it's not clogged you are fine.
Now, screw them parts together, put on top of the stove, low heat(even if it takes longer, coffee comes out much stronger - I assume that's the reason you have it).
The steam pressure will push the boiling water through the nosel upwards and the cup must be filled with espresso

did you put it on a stove and turned the gas on?

Is eem to remember my flatmate putting his one of those on the hob of the cooker....the water was pushed up as it boiled...

I think the two prior responders got it right, you do need to put it on the stove or provide other heat for the coffee maker to make coffee. Good luck

oh I know you blend the coffee with the water & it will end up at the bottom part, I saw it on T.V

all i can say it thank goodness for my simple mr coffee! good luck!
