My husband left out a london broil to defrost for almost 24 hours. Is it still OK to cook? Thanks.?!
If it is so, forget it even if it still smell OK. You might be tempted to serve it to your family because it is expensive, PLEASE DON'T unless you want to poison them.
No food should be left at room temperature for more than 2 hours. Bacteria grow rapidly between 40 and 140 °F. (4 and 60 °C) and can double every 15 minutes at room temperature and become 4 million bacteria in only 8 hours.
Every year, an estimated 76 million cases of food borne illness and 5,000 associated deaths occur in the United States alone, imagine around the world.
That being said, it is now up to you to make an informed decision.
Answers: When you say "left out" do you mean left out of the fridge on the counter top ?

I don't think I would cook it, 24 hrs. Naw
Out? I hope you mean like in the frig. Other wise out like in the garbage!!
no that could get you sick my moms a docter and nutrisionist. and my dad is a foodgiolagist well that what i call him because he reall good of knowing if foods are still fresh.
NO NO NO, I know that old school logic was that thawing frozen (out side of the refrigerator, example on the counter) meat out over night was safe and it is not! Please if you have children do not feed this to them. You generally have 4 hours before you should to be safe throw it out or take the proper steps to make it safe.If you want to thaw meats quickly, place in a bowl or pot, cover completely with(room temperature) water and leave the water running so that it is constantly draining of the meat, if the meat will not stay submerged than use a plate or something to keep it submerged, if you do not want to run that much water, plan ahead and thaw it in the refrig, I am a culinary student and we are bombarded with safety procedures so I am not trying to scare you just trying to keep people and food safe. Peaceful Cooking To Ya!
most beef products today are chemically treated when processed. but you may want to marinate the flank now for a few hours. a balsamic vinaigrette is a great marinade for beef and reduces the cooking process as well.
smell test..you will know if's ok
i dont think so
If he left it in the fridge for 24 hours then you are safe to eat it. If its left out of the fridge for that long you shouldn't even be thinking about it. Throw it out.
