Does any pastry that uses butter need to stay refrigerated?!

Question: I have oatmeal squares that I didn't make but I know there is butter in them. I have had them out of a fridge for about a week. Can I get sick if I eat them?

It takes a good, long time for butter to go rancid! Usually it's by itself, in an uncooked form when it does, in a heated environment.
Naw, just enjoy! I bake with butter, when the recipe doesn't even call for butter...and it stays on the kitchen counter till gone...whenever that happens.

Cooked products can be at room temp for a few days no pbm.

Products baked with butter are fine stored at room temperature (as long as they don't have other ingredients that will spoil). The butter doesn't spoil.

I leave a stick of butter on the counter all the time in a covered dish. It will is left unsed eventually become rancid, you can smell it. Pastries that are baked are not a problem. Store them in air tight containers as air is an oxidizer for fats...thus the rancidity.

Since they are baked/cooked,they will be fine.Keep them in an airtight container.
