Is it stale???!

Question: i brought whole grain pita bread. it was on sale at my local market. hmm. it is flakey and not really soft and bendable like regular pitas. if i bend it, it cracks and breaks. it tastes dry but there's no wierd smell or anything. is it only like this because it is whole grain?

If it was on sale it was probably near the expiration date, but pita bread gets dry really fast anyway.

You can nuke it to soften it like the girl said or you can always just bake it and make pita chips for dipping or something.

It's not going to be very appetizing eating it the way it is now but it shouldn't hurt you if choose to.

Pita can be soft, but will dry out quickly if not stored correctly.

it's likely fine, warm it abit

My dear friend, If its dry its stale GOD Bless you.

pop it in the microwave for 10 seconds, this will soften it as long as there is no mould on it its fine.

Stale bread smells and tastes bad, yours sounds dried out, warming it could increase it's pliability, because it will release the moisture stored in it's molecules. If I were you I don't think I would buy that kind any more...

Hi,
If there is no bad smell or taste, and there are no molds seen, it is still good to use. Since it was on sale, it must be nearing its usable life, but still usable. I think your bread has just gone dry. You can steam it or microwave it for some 20sec or so to make it again soft and tastes better.
In future when you buy such items, either from sale or otherwise, just make sure you have 2 more days or usable life and that there are no molds. If there is no label showing the expiry date, you can even ask the store. If it is a local store, you may even be able to know the routine of suppliers.
You can make a nice gravy to go with it or have some succulent filling to make it taste softer or nicer.
Take care.. All the best..

sprinkle some water on them and reheat them, they will be soft again
