Answers: ages2 and 4. We have to start eating at home because it has become to expensive. but because it is hard to please everyone i find it hard to cook for everyone. so that is why we eat out. Just cook chicken and beef then - its not hard to omit pork and milk!
Cook what you like and if they don't eat it too bad for them!
that sounds like me! i eat a lot of potato items
You can buy chicken. Expecially, Chicken Nuggets, they have some Dino Shaped Chicken Nuggets. You can always buy Apple Juice or Juicy Juice (they have nice flavors and it's 100% juice) it's healthy. You can buy some rice. (Rice Pilaf is really good). You can also make pasta. I reccomend any Sauce from the jar. Homemade, is optional.
Sounds like your kids could do with a bit of fussiness moderation. Cook what you know to be healthy and tasty and don't let them dictate what you should cook. Kids usually want food that they're familiar with and which taste good but aren't necessarily healthy. They're at the age where you have to expand their range of tastes so that they can get along better in the real world!
Vegetarian lasagne, soups, mild curries etc can all be really healthy, tasty, and cheap to shop for.
You can omit pork and make alot of recipes subbing turkey for pork.
I also suggest using coupons - alot of the stuff they have coupons for goes on sale within a week or two of the Sunday paper.
Also, don't allow your kids to become picky eaters. Just because dad doesn't like something, doesn't mean the kids have an excuse to become picky.
Flordia oranges are really good... I bet your whole family would like that.
You have to throw some in other stuff for an actual meal. Some chicken would be nice... I like chicken.
Also, try this "Caterpillar". You need different color construction paper.
Well, cut out circles about 4 inches in diameter. Each person (if you want, including your husband) will have a side of the refridgerator. Whenever that person tries something new, they get a circle, and put what it was that they tried on it. Let the circles go down and down the refridgerator, and when it reaches the bottom, that person gets some sort of reward.
I think it'll work.
Sorry if my spelling isn't perfect. =D
My recommendation would be to first invest in a good set of waterless, greaseless cookware as the healthy quality of whatever food you cook will be the best for your family. Waterless/greaseless cookware teaches you to use low heat and cook without water or grease as most of all the nutrients in our foods are water soluble and cooking with high heat especially over 180 degrees 90% of all nutrients are killed. They say if the kitchen sink was a member of your family it would be the healthiest as we boil our vegetables and dump out the water with all the nutrients and the peel's with most of the nutrition. You will be amazed when your children eat the veggies and meat that were cooked withut water and grease.
My advice is to make all foods and say that this is dinner. Explain to your husband that it is in your children's best interest to have positive food experiences with all foods while they are young so you want to expose them to pork and milk and you'd appreciate his help. If he only eats a very little bit of each and then waits until after the children are asleep to eat something else, that would work but if he is resistant in front of the children or if you cut milk and pork out entirely, your children are more likely to be picky eaters as they grow up. Offer up plenty of vegetables and fruits, cut the junk food and sweets down considerably, and encourage your children to help in meal preparation as much as possible. Variety and healthy, balanced meals are both important. If you don't have a lot of time for cooking, consider using a crock pot for at least one dinner per week whether it is a roast, bbq, or stew. Fish is a quick preparation too. Get some good recipe books. Better Homes and Gardens New Cookbook is an old standby in my family. And my last bit of advice: don't go for the things at the store that are marketed to children. They are almost universally bad. Believe it or not, there are children who claim their favorite food is vegetables.
removing pork from your grocery list is not a bad thing.try lean chicken, turkey, fish and veggies. pasta/noodles is something everyone usually likes. baking food is healthier than frying. try serving fish at least 3x a week. frozen or canned salmon or or frozen tilapia can just be seasoned with salt and pepper then baked. serve with veggies such as lightly buttered corn, home made mashed potatoes or even sweet potato oven fries or flavored rice...the internet is a good source for recipes. some websites to check out are martha stewart everyday food or recipezaar.
chicken is an excellant alternative for pork. I don't like pork a lot myself, but almost any recipe that calls for pork can be made with chicken
